Hilarity Bites Comedy Club feat. Anthony King, Stephen Bailey, and host Dave Twentyman

Show details:

Anthony King

Anthony King

Anthony King is an outwardly normal looking bloke who turned to comedy after he was disowned by the Catholic Church for confessing in too much detail. Having finally found a use for his twisted sense of humour, Anthony has gone on to perform at all the major comedy clubs across the UK and beyond, including performances in Germany, Spain, The Netherlands, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Bahrain. On stage, he has supported Lee Evans, Eddie Izzard and Jo Brand to name just a few.

Anthony's devilishly droll deadpan humour, masterful timing and delivery of a stream of one-liners combine to make him one of the most polished performers on the circuit. His act is a combination of his own true-life experiences mixed in with a whole bunch of lies.

Anthony's gigs have not been confined to the small stage; he has also made numerous appearances on TV, including spots on Live at Jongleurs, whilst he's also a much heralded writer, with a sitcom pilot for Radio 4 amongst many highlights on his résumé.

“King offers something of a pot pourri of comedy styles: a good dollop of observational stuff, a generous helping of banter, a dash of spontaneity plus a handful of deadpan one-liners to add spice. It’s the one-liners that set him apart. Sparse, efficient, unexpected – and often with a delicious twinge of underlying nastiness – each one is an elegant example of perfect joke construction...” - Chortle

“Outstanding is Anthony King, an elegantly mournful figure whose timing and delivery of a stream of one-liners and non-sequiteurs are masterly” - The Scotsman

“Like a stand-up Rupert Everett (the same dark looks, the same insouciant stage persona) his attitude is take it or leave it – the right attitude for getting laughs” - The Guardian

Stephen Bailey

Stephen Bailey

Stephen Bailey is making noise on the comedy circuit with his trademark fun, charming and sassy style. He is a regular at major clubs around the country, and has also played major events such as Latitude & Stonewalls Summer Party. Most recently he has been seen supporting Katherine Ryan on her UK tour, Glam Role Model.

Away from the live stage, Stephen has appeared on Celebrity Big Brother's Bit on the Side (Channel 5), and acted as warm up artist for ITV’s Loose Women and Let’s Lunch With Gino & Mel. He has also contributed to Attitude Magazine, Live Manchester and the Huffington Post.

In August 2015 Stephen returned to the Edinburgh Festival on the back of his 2014 hit debut, with a brand new show, Should’ve Been a Popstar, at the Pleasance Courtyard which saw him nominated for the Amused Moose Comedy Awards.

“A great addition to the comedy scene” - Sunday Express

“Stephen Bailey dominates the stage” - Chortle

“Bailey gives it his all with seemingly boundless energy” - The Herald

Dave Twentyman

Dave Twentyman

Affable, quick-witted banter merchant, Dave Twentyman survived a childhood in St Helens by evolving rapid, startlingly-bright patter and a smile that he somehow stole from Barry Manilow. This is a man who could teach Teflon a trick-or-two but who remains vastly more fun than your average frying-pan. What higher praise can there be?

No matter what your mood, you really can't help but warm to Dave. He puts a big smile on everyone's face. His chatty, cheeky style endears him to the toughest of crowds. Dave talks a lot about the subjects closer to home, such as family life & friends. Its lighthearted, positive fun, you can't help relating to.

A regular performer at many of the best weekend clubs in the country, Dave has also performed at a number of music festivals over the years such as Leeds, V Festival, Download, etc

“Thoroughly impressed, best I've seen in ages. Great warmth and style” - Dave Spikey

“F**king Brilliant” - John Bishop

“Really like his stuff” - Jason Manford

This show will also feature a newer act in the middle.
