Hilarity Bitesize New Act & New Material Night, with Peter Brush, host Andy Fury & support
A highly distinctive performer and deft writer of finely crafted jokes, Peter Brush has clocked up an ever-increasing amount of respect in his first few years on the comedy circuit. With his slight, bespectacled frame and scruffy hair, Brush unassumingly takes the stage before consummately conquering it with an arsenal of razor sharp quirky one-liners and peerlessly original routines, all delivered in an amusingly awkward fashion.
Peter has already been a finalist in a variety of local and national comedy competitions including the BBC New Comedy Award 2013, as well as winning the Harrogate Comedian of the Year 2012. He has also written for Radio 4 and supported Arthur Smith during his 2013 tour.
“An imaginative use of language and obtuse angles of thought that produce distinctive and eclectic gags... his best lines are inspired” - Chortle
“Yorkshire’s answer to Woody Allen” - Harrogate Advertiser
“The real standout performer for me was Peter Brush, whose slow build up to quirky one-liners had tears streaming down my cheeks” - Bridlington Free Press
Despite starting comedy out of “sheer boredom” just a few years ago, Andy Fury has impressed a lot of people in a short space of time with a wonderful mix of self-deprecating dark jokes and off the wall surrealism.
With a laidback stage presence that sometimes borders horizontal, he’s as hard-working as he is funny and winning the Hilarity Bites New Act Of The Year 2010 title has put Andy on the path to working at many of the best clubs in the country, wowing audiences the length and breadth of the UK.
“An absolute genius of a comedian” - BBC
“Brilliant... The next Pub Landlord of comedy” - Hexham Courant
“A very funny man with a big future ahead of him” - Corby Radio
