Hilarity Bites Comedy Club feat. Ria Lina, Phil Chapman, and host Freddy Quinne
Winner of the EMMA Award for Best Comedienne, Ria has been entertaining both UK and international audiences for over a decade with her dry wit and the occasional song. Using her charm and intelligence to get away with anything from the most audacious routines to subtle wordplay, Ria is a popular headline act at clubs around the world.
Ria is also a highly respected festival performer, and has been a regular at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival since 2011. Her 2014 show "School of Riason" was nominated for the Amused Moose Laughter Awards, contained one of Dave TV’s Top 10 Jokes of the Festival, and was commissioned by Radio 4 as a half-hour special, recorded and aired in 2016. Previous projects include her critically acclaimed shows "Thpethial" (2013) and "It’s Not Easy Being Yellow" (2012), which travelled to the Brighton Fringe, Edinburgh Fringe, and Singapore International Festivals. Her most recent show, Taboo Raider (2015), was filmed for DVD release and is due out in Spring 2016.
Ria's talents have also been in demand in television, with her writing and acting in the ITV2 comedy sketch show Meet the Blogs, as well as writing and presenting her own documentary for Channel 4 revealing the truth behind the myths that surround oriental women in Britain. Other projects include the comedy series, Sweet n' Sour Comedy and Malai Monologues, for BBC3, and The World Stands Up, for Comedy Central (USA), the Paramount Comedy Channel (UK), and the Comedy Network Channel (AUS).

“...electrified the audience with her relaxed yet biting wit” - Three Weeks
Originally from Middlesbrough, and now living in Liverpool, via Reading and Texas, Phil began performing comedy at a local Chinese restaurant! He was asked to leave soon into the performance, but such was the reaction of the crowd - a rapturous round of applause (in hindsight, this may have been more for the management although no one can really confirm anything) - he decided to pursue a career via more conventional means.
He continued performing around the North of England, where he placed second in many comedy competitions. Given his consistency, and undeterred by his near brushes with success, he decided to carry on performing and has now established himself as a regular in many clubs around the country, and he is renowned for his ability to win over any audience.
From his carefully crafted gags, to his engaging anecdotes, his material and stage presence ensure he is a big hit wherever he's playing.
“An instant hit” - Liverpool Echo
“A good stage presence, with the jokes to match” - Giggle Beats
“Fearless as well as bloody funny” - Smacked Arse Comedy
The winner of the 2013 Hilarity Bites New Act of the Year competition, Freddy Quinne's "uniquely northern observational humour" (Lancashire Evening Post) has seen a meteoric rise into some of the biggest clubs in the country. Quinne couples "clever, well placed gags" (Pickled Egg) together with a vulnerable persona for a unique experience which combines to make "a real tour de force performance" (Alex Boardman).
In 2014 Freddy was MC for the late show for the Big Value Show at the Edinburgh Fringe, one of the most prestigious showcases at the festival, and he returned to the Fringe in 2015, where he hosted the AAA Comedy Showcase at the Pleasance Courtyard. He also MC'd a showcase for online magazine and comedy reviewers The Skinny, as part of the Liverpool Comedy Festival, and he currently acts as a resident MC for over half a dozen comedy nights across the country as well as regularly compering some of the biggest comedy venues in the UK, including Frog & Bucket, and Just the Tonic.
Freddy's willingness to break away from his set and involve the crowd leads for an engaging and memorable set backed up with frantic energy and raw emotion.
“An impeccable set... a great storyteller with immense potential” - Worksop Guardian
“The hilarious Freddy Quinne managed to quieten the two worst hecklers with one perfectly judged line” - eFestivals
“Quinne delighted the crowd with clever, well placed gags” - Pickled Egg
This show will also feature a newer act in the middle.
