Hilarity Bites Comedy Club feat. Allyson June Smith, Jamie Dalgleish, and host Rob Mulholland
Allyson June Smith
Since 2000, Allyson June Smith has been tickling Canada's comedy scene from the moment she put down the chalk brush and picked up a mic. Playing to packed rooms has become like another day in the classroom for this former school teacher.
Her credits include her own hour long Comedy Now special, appearances on CBC Radio's hit show The Debaters, and the Winnipeg, Halifax and Just For Laughs Festivals, to name just a few. A multiple Canadian Comedy Award nominee for Best Female Stand-Up, she performs for audiences ranging from corporations to the most rural of gatherings. Whether she was the host, support, or headliner, she's delighted them all.
After working her way across Canada, Allyson now has taken her craft to the UK. Using her sassy blend of in-your-face stand-up and hilariously insightful commentary, she now works for major UK promoters and comedy clubs.
It is her genuine and unique sense of humor, combined with excellent performance timing, that has made audiences laugh. This teacher-come-comic is ready to show international audiences why she is a sought-after fan favourite.
“Simply one of the funniest comedians I’ve ever worked with” - Jason Manford
“Yet another hilarious Canadian with great hair” - Stewart Francis
“Ultra likeable and versatile” - Now Magazine Toronto
Since being put in for his first gig at The Stand in Summer 2010 by his girlfriend, and without his knowledge, Jamie Dalgleish has hit the ground running, notching up hundreds of gigs throughout the UK, as well as winning the 'Scottish Comedian of the Year' title in 2011.
Since 2011, Jamie has performed a sold out 4 date solo Glasgow Comedy Festival show, as well as performing a full run at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2012, and appearing several times on BBC Radio Scotland.
“A deserving winner ... the assured Dalgleish charmed the crowd ... merciless” - The Scotsman
“Full of energy and instantly likeable” - Edinburgh Festival Journal
“Jamie showed the composure and comic timing last seen at the Pavilion by the likes of Jack Milroy and Hector Nicol, with a big dollop of Kevin Bridges thrown in for good measure” - The Glaswegian
One of the fastest rising new comedians on the circuit, Rob Mulholland fell into comedy after finding a flyer looking for acts to appear at Harrogate Comedy Festival on the ground outside his front door. In the two years since, he has clocked up a huge amount of gigs all over the country ranging from tiny pubs to massive theatres (even performing to 2,000 bikers at an outdoor festival!), and can now be seen most weekends in some of the biggest comedy clubs in the country.
Just as at home as an act or compere, Rob mixes cheeky audience banter with his intricately woven, gag-packed stories; adding a touch of the absurd to his askance glance at everyday life. Rob is 17 feet tall, made of steel and can jump over a mini cooper from a standing start.
Rob is the current Hilarity Bites New Act of the Year, and after finishing runner-up in this year’s Great Yorkshire Fringe New Act of the Year competition has awarded himself the title of "Yorkshire’s Funniest Non-Musical Comedian". He was one half of the anarchic, late-night, yurt-based show #BlurredMinds at the 2015 Edinburgh festival and premiered his first solo show ‘Champion of Comedy’ at the Leicester Comedy Festival in 2016.
“Very, very tall and equally as talented” - Time Out
“Great delivery and a confident swagger... A riot” - Lancashire Evening Telegraph
“Perfect delivery... had the audience bursting into spontaneous applause” - York Press
