Hilarity Bites Comedy Club feat. Carl Hutchinson, Steve Shanyaski, and host Jonathan Mayor
Carl Hutchinson is a multi-award winning comedian, having won the Beat The Frog World Series and Magners Comedian of the year awards in 2007. He's also a Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year Nominee and So You Think You’re Funny Finalist, was seen on ITV's FHM Comedy Hero and performed at the highly respected Big Value Comedy Showcase in Edinburgh in 2011.
Carl supported former three-time wrestling heavyweight champion and bestselling author Mick Foley on both of his UK Comedy Tours; in 2011 and 2012 respectively. Carl then supported Chris Ramsey on the last leg of his ‘Offermation’ tour in 2012, and performed his first solo hour at the 2012 Edinburgh festival where it was shortlisted in the Amused Moose Awards and has received outstanding reviews from all of the major festival press.
Carl returned to the Edinburgh Fringe with his second and third solo hours in 2013 and 2014, before heading out on a tour of large theatres alongside Chris Ramsey, which continues into 2015.
“Effortlessly hilarious. He captivates the audience with his perfectly timed suspenseful silences and plain-talking sense-making” - ★★★★ - Three Weeks
“An absolute must... the next big thing!” - The Skinny
“The comedy catalyst to a great night out” - Three Weeks
“Hutchinson’s trump card is the way he interacts with the audience, rolling with every ‘ooh’ and ‘aah’ his material generated, giving a dynamism and spontaneity to his performance” - Chortle
Endlessly charming, Steve's inherent warmth and cheeky, roguish twinkle shines through his material. Within the first six months of his comedy career he made it through to the semi-finals of the BBC New Comedian of the Year, the North West Comedian of the Year Final, and later that year was booked to appear on the BBC7 Radio Showcase 'Spanking New'. Since then he has gone from strength to strength, adding TV appearances such as 'Jason Manford's Comedy Rocks' on ITV, and Comedy Central's 'Comedy Store Presents...'.
Combining surreal observations with wildly tangential imaginings, his off kilter set pieces have audiences fully immersed as he leads them, Pied Piperlike, down the charming avenues of his inner mind.
“One of my favourite comedians” - Jason Manford
“Like a mixture between Eddie Izzard and Peter Kay… with a guitar” - Stockport Express
“Uproariously funny” - Chortle
Jonathan Mayor sets the stage alight with his razor sharp audience banter and stunning charisma. Don’t be fooled by the glitter and glamour, underneath lies an intelligent line of socio-political humour, from a unique and fascinating perspective. Jonathan will reduce any audience to hysterics whether they are erudite, Radio 4 listeners or the drunkest Friday night crowd.
A flamboyant and charismatic performer, when Jonathan arrives, its Showtime, engaging the audience both on and off-stage. He is one of the few acts who will not only perform when the stage lights are on, but also wander among the crowd, chatting and charming – truly “hosting” the night. These qualities have ensured that Jonathan is, in either role, one of the UK’s most popular choices with audiences.
Jonathan also receives requests for appearances at events that vary wildly in nature, such as burlesque shows, cabaret nights, Pride Events, biker festivals, corporate occasions, street theatre, balls, weddings, civil partnerships, birthday parties and poetry nights. Jonathan is so much more than a stand-up comedian, he is an exciting, enticing, all consuming experience in himself.
“Imagine a Christmas tree has just exploded over the campest Bollywood star you know” - Comedy Store
“An incredible presence on the stage. Mesmerising to watch and an extremely articulate improviser. Fantastic” - XS Malarkey
This show will also feature a newer act in the middle.
