Hilarity Bites Comedy Club feat. Dan Nightingale, Phil Cooper, and host Andy Fury
Show details:
Dan Nightingale
Dan Nightingale is widely regarded as one of the best performers working on the comedy circuit today. Mixing fiendishly accurate observation with energetic characterisations and killer punch lines, his comedy is original, playful, intelligent, poignant and exciting; sometimes ridiculous... but always hilarious.
Named as Best MC at the UK Comedy Awards 2015, and nominated for Best Act at the Midlands Comedy Awards in 2016, Dan began his comedy career in Newcastle in 2002, and founded the Frog and Buckets ‘Beat the Frog’ amateur night, which quickly became the best new comedy night in the North. As well as his reputation as a top-class circuit headliner and in-demand MC and host, he has also performed regular TV warm up for the likes of Jonathan Ross, John Bishop and Celebrity Juice.
Dan has also become a regular crowd pleaser, and critically acclaimed success, at The Edinburgh Festival Fringe, having performed solo shows since 2008 at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, as well as at festivals in New Zealand.
“Nightingale can make just about anything funny. He’s lightning-quick” - Time Out
“Magnetic, entertaining and wonderfully funny” - Three Weeks
“Pretty damn funny” - Fest
Phil Cooper
Phil Cooper is a unique comedy voice from Rhondda, and yet he doesn’t feel properly Welsh – he can’t sing, wanted to be a wrestler not a rugby player and he has never committed fraud with public money. However, his charming blend of storytelling and smart jokes bring something unique to any stage. A regular at venues throughout the UK, Phil has also gigged throughout Europe, combining this with work on TV, radio, and studio warm-up.
His hour long solo comedy TV special, which he performed in Welsh, aired on S4C in December 2017, and in 2018 he performed his new solo hour “One Phil Over The Cooper’s Nest” at The Edinburgh Festival.
“Makes comedy look simple, a true talent” - Fosters Comedy
“Impossible not to be drawn into his expertly delivered dialogue as he riffs off audience interactions - Top class comedian” - Ministry Comedy
“Very impressive. Had everyone in stitches. We will certainly be having him back again and again” - Eminent Comedy
Replacing Pete Otway:
Andy Fury
Despite starting comedy out of “sheer boredom” just a few years ago, Andy Fury has impressed a lot of people in a short space of time with a wonderful mix of self-deprecating dark jokes and off the wall surrealism.
With a laidback stage presence that sometimes borders horizontal, he’s as hard-working as he is funny and winning the Hilarity Bites New Act Of The Year 2010 title has put Andy on the path to working at many of the best clubs in the country, wowing audiences the length and breadth of the UK.
“An absolute genius of a comedian” - BBC
“Brilliant... The next Pub Landlord of comedy” - Hexham Courant
“A very funny man with a big future ahead of him” - Corby Radio
This show will also feature a newer act in the middle.
Note: Line-ups are subject to change in extreme, and unavoidable, circumstances.
