Hilarity Bites Comedy Club feat. Paul Tonkinson, Rob Rouse, Jake Donaldson, and host Sully O’Sullivan

Show details:

Paul Tonkinson

Paul Tonkinson

A sensational live performer, Yorkshire man, marathon runner and former (double award-winning) Time Out Comedian of the Year, Paul Tonkinson has long upheld his esteemed reputation as one of the finest stand-ups the UK has to offer. With a unique and distinctive style, Tonkinson is noted for his effervescent physicality and skillful impressions, which bring alive exuberant, tender comic reflections on love, family and the day-to-day idiosyncrasies of 21st century living. A plethora of first class material, combined with tremendous charm and irrepressible, infectious energy make for quite a formidable talent.

After many years of storming the circuit, and much badgering from fellow professionals, he took to the road in 2012 with his eagerly anticipated debut tour: Paul Tonkinson; Fancy Man. The tour took in 50 dates across the UK, and gave audiences the opportunity to experience the full Tonkinson phenomena in all it’s glory.

Following his solo tour, he was given the opportunity to play to a wider audience, joining the mighty Michael McIntyre as a special guest on live shows around the UK. In 2013 he had the honour of joining Michael as a special guest on his global arena tour; playing to millions across the globe, as far and wide as Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Dubai, Singapore and Hong Kong. Paul joined Michael again in 2015 as special guest on the Happy & Glorious Tour; playing to sold-out crowds in arenas across the UK.

“Excellent... extremely talented... brilliant” - Time Out

“Hilarious, nobody makes me laugh like Paul Tonkinson…go see him!" - Michael McIntyre

“Watching Tonkinson storm is one of the best sights in comedy. It’s like watching somebody fly" - Sean Walsh

Rob Rouse

Rob Rouse

Rob Rouse is a man who doesn't know the meaning of the word calm. Full of beans, Rob can't slow down, and why would he when he makes so many people laugh. Rob first made the leap into stand up comedy in the late 1990s, touring the university circuits. In 1998 he won the prestigious 'So You Think You're Funny' competition at the Edinburgh Festival.

As seen on Dave's One Night Stand, Celebrity Juice, 8 out of 10 Cats, The Friday Night Project, and much more, Rob is one of comedy’s most lively, loveable and dynamic performers.

Performing a rare club show, whilst in between tours, expect stories of his life as a father, his encounters with road-kill and his life as the beleaguered owner of the most spectacularly randy dog you’re ever likely to hear about...

“He’s a man with genuinely funny bones” - Sunday Times

“Rob Rouse is a born clown, a latter-day Stan Laurel” - Time Out

“Every single one of these everyday observations and shared recognitions is blown out of the mainstream by his electric-shock treatment of the material... You want to hug his brain for coming up with this stuff, even as you want to wash his mouth out with soap for saying it” - The Herald

Jake Donaldson

Jake Donaldson

2024 BBC New Comedy Award finalist

Visually impaired and perpetually anxious Newcastle comedian Jake Donaldson is known across the comedy circuit in the UK for his witty anecdotal stand-up, which has seen him play some of the biggest and best comedy clubs in the country.

A combination of storytelling and stand-up comedy, Jake’s material often explores themes of masculinity and mental health through stories from Jake’s real life as a partially sighted person, who grew up in the North East of England with a disabled, working-class Dad.

Jake has had acclaimed runs at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, with his shows “Help! I’m Trapped In The Body Of An Adequate Comedian!” and “Neurotica”, securing four-star reviews across the board (‘****’ Darkchat) and a nomination for Neurodiverse Review’s Visually Impaired Excellence Award at Edinburgh Fringe 2022.

“One of the Must-See New Acts at The Edinburgh Fringe’” - Huffington Post

“Refreshingly diverse material” - BritEvents.com

“Full of heart... top class anecdotal comedy... will have you roaring with laughter” - Blizzard Comedy
