Hilarity Bites Comedy Club feat. John Scott, Simon Lomas, and host Rob Mulholland
Multi-award winning Scotsman John Scott took his first tentative steps into stand up in 1999 and just 3 months after his first appearance found himself doing his first run at the Edinburgh Festival.
Since then, John has appeared at a further five festivals, and returned this year with a brand new show. In the meantime, he picked up the Spike Milligan award for new talent in 2003 and then paired that up with the Take the Mic award at the 2010 Edinburgh Fringe - the richest prize in UK comedy.
Resident in Newcastle, he now finds himself a favourite with audiences around the country as he headlines and MCs at all the major clubs around the UK and has gigged as far afield as the Middle East.

“Confidently told hilarious tales of class-based woe, nothing missed the mark in a superb set where every story was expertly crafted before being subverted with a killer punch line” - The Sun
Winner - Hilarity Bites New Act of the Year 2017
Winner - Nottingham Comedy Festival new Act of the Year 2017
Winner - Great Yorkshire Fringe New Comedian of the Year 2016
Winner - Nando’s New Comedian of the Year 2016
Despite only starting stand up in September 2015, Simon Lomas is already regarded as one of the most refreshing and exciting new acts on the circuit. In August 2017 he performed as part of Just The Tonic's prestigious Big Value Comedy Show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, after racking up a host of new act competition titles.
Definitely one to watch.
“...the writing is strong, efficient and offbeat, with an enviable hit rate” - Chortle

“...sharp and solid joke writing” - The Skinny
One of the fastest rising new comedians on the circuit, Rob Mulholland fell into comedy after finding a flyer looking for acts to appear at Harrogate Comedy Festival on the ground outside his front door. In the two years since, he has clocked up a huge amount of gigs all over the country ranging from tiny pubs to massive theatres (even performing to 2,000 bikers at an outdoor festival!), and can now be seen most weekends in some of the biggest comedy clubs in the country.
Just as at home as an act or compere, Rob mixes cheeky audience banter with his intricately woven, gag-packed stories; adding a touch of the absurd to his askance glance at everyday life. Rob is 17 feet tall, made of steel and can jump over a mini cooper from a standing start.
Rob is the current Hilarity Bites New Act of the Year, and after finishing runner-up in this year’s Great Yorkshire Fringe New Act of the Year competition has awarded himself the title of "Yorkshire’s Funniest Non-Musical Comedian". He was one half of the anarchic, late-night, yurt-based show #BlurredMinds at the 2015 Edinburgh festival and premiered his first solo show ‘Champion of Comedy’ at the Leicester Comedy Festival in 2016.
