Hilarity Bites Comedy Club feat. Anthony King, James Bran, and host Tom Houghton

Show details:

Anthony King

Anthony King

Anthony King is an outwardly normal looking bloke who turned to comedy after he was disowned by the Catholic Church for confessing in too much detail. Having finally found a use for his twisted sense of humour, Anthony has gone on to perform at all the major comedy clubs across the UK and beyond, including performances in Germany, Spain, The Netherlands, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Bahrain. On stage, he has supported Lee Evans, Eddie Izzard and Jo Brand to name just a few.

Anthony's devilishly droll deadpan humour, masterful timing and delivery of a stream of one-liners combine to make him one of the most polished performers on the circuit. His act is a combination of his own true-life experiences mixed in with a whole bunch of lies.

Anthony's gigs have not been confined to the small stage; he has also made numerous appearances on TV, including spots on Live at Jongleurs, whilst he's also a much heralded writer, with a sitcom pilot for Radio 4 amongst many highlights on his résumé.

“King offers something of a pot pourri of comedy styles: a good dollop of observational stuff, a generous helping of banter, a dash of spontaneity plus a handful of deadpan one-liners to add spice. It’s the one-liners that set him apart. Sparse, efficient, unexpected – and often with a delicious twinge of underlying nastiness – each one is an elegant example of perfect joke construction...” - Chortle

“Outstanding is Anthony King, an elegantly mournful figure whose timing and delivery of a stream of one-liners and non-sequiteurs are masterly” - The Scotsman

“Like a stand-up Rupert Everett (the same dark looks, the same insouciant stage persona) his attitude is take it or leave it – the right attitude for getting laughs” - The Guardian

James Bran

James Bran

James Bran is a fast-rising talent on the UK comedy circuit. Refreshingly different, whilst still appealing to mainstream comedy audiences, he's bringing his quirky blend of stand-up and comic poetry to clubs all over the country.

James is a resident MC at both Crack Comedy and The Patchwork Club, and this experience has made him a polished and confident performer skilled at improvisation and audience interaction.

James is performing sets at comedy clubs all over the country, and he’s performed two critically acclaimed full-length shows at the Edinburgh Fringe - and in 2014 he won a place on the bill at the prestigious AAA show at The Pleasance Courtyard in Edinburgh.

“His quirky performance showcases his talent as both actor and comic. Creative and rather unusual, it opens the show with a high and Bran's a hard act to follow” - ★★★★ - Three Weeks

“Succeeds in creating something both intruiging and funny... very promising for the future” - ★★★★ - Broadway Baby

“Guaranteed to have you in stitches” - The U Review

Tom Houghton

Tom Houghton

Tom Houghton was previously 1/5th of comedy troupe "The Noise Next Door" and is now taking the comedy circuit by storm with his quick wit, charming persona and ludicrous comedy songs.

Regularly performing up and down the country and abroad, you may even have caught him on Channel Fours "First Dates Hotel", or at his sell-out debut Edinburgh Fringe show, which went on tour in early 2018.

Strap in and be prepared to have your funny bones tickled and your levels of decency questioned by one of the hottest new acts around.
