SUMMARY:Newton Aycliffe\, March 20th 2025
DESCRIPTION:Hilarity Bitesize New Act & New Material Night\, with Sam Avery\, Laurence Tuck\, host Si Beckwith & support\nShow details:\n \nSam Avery\nSam Avery wanted to be a rock star. It nearly happened. \nDespite being signed up by BMG Records at the age of 17 (he had to resign from his beloved paper round)\, and subsequent tours with Motorhead and Ice T\, the story soon took a familiar turn. Contracts were anulled\, money was stolen and before he knew it he was back at the paper shop asking for his fluorescent bag back. He had crap hair anyway. \nSubsequent jobs (including a brief stint as a stockbroker) failed to excite him the way the smell of sweat and snakebite had and it wasn't long before he turned to stand-up\, soon making the final of the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year competition\, and finishing runner-up in the City Life North-West Comedian of the Year competition. \nFriendly and enthusiastic\, his observational style instantly puts audiences at ease allowing him to regale them with his tales of everyday life. Sam has gained a reputation for being able to spark the dullest of rooms into life with his warm\, infectious humour and quick wit which makes him ideal as either an act or compere. \nSam is also known as The Learner Parent\, the blog that he started which has lead to a best-selling book and sold-out UK tour. \n“Quick wit and painfully funny” - Metro \n“A must” - Sunday Times \n“A gifted storyteller” - The List \n  \n \nLaurence Tuck\nLaurence has been performing his dark and quirky stand up since 2008\, albeit with a six year hiatus in the middle\, and is now making waves in the North West comedy scene. \nIn 2012\, Laurence was a finalist of the Leicester Square Theatre New Comedian of the Year and winner of the Electric Theatre (Guildford) Comedy Festival Newcomer Competition \n“Inventively offbeat” - Chortle \n“Stunningly original jokes\, its been years since I've seen a new comedian with jokes this good” - Adam Bloom \n“'His writing is wonderfully creative and... extremely impressive” - Notts Comedy Review \n“Quirky and offbeat... I liked him” - Steve Wright\, BBC \n  \n \nSi Beckwith\nSi Beckwith is a stand-up comedian and writer from Newcastle Upon Tyne. \nSi gigs regularly and prolifically\, up and down the country\, making sure to hone his craft on all manner of stages and is a respected\, reliable and most importantly very funny stand-up comedian who has a creative approach to all he does. \nSi has packed plenty in to a relatively short career\, first performing at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2013 in a two-handed show. He was a Harrogate Comedian Of The Year finalist in 2016. His show ‘Get Lush’ received some excellent reviews in 2019 and 2020 for performances at both Alphabetti Theatre and The Stand\, Newcastle. His most recent show ‘Bricks’ has been getting wonderful feedback from performances at Laurels Theatre and The Stand\, Newcastle. \n“Absurdly charming and funny” - NARC \n“Razor sharp wit” - The Crack \n“relaxes and charms\, but watch out for his vicious undertow” - BBC \n  \nThis show will also feature support from several new acts\, and established acts performing new material. \n  \nNote: Line-ups are subject to change in extreme\, and unavoidable\, circumstances.\nShow may contain strong language and adult themes.\n\nTimings\nDoors open: 7pm\nShow starts: 7:30pm \n\nBuy tickets:\nTickets for this show are £10 per person\, with doors opening at 7pm and the show starting at 7:30pm. Tickets can be bought from the link below\, See Tickets\, TicketMaster\, Skiddle\, or contact the venue directly.
