Charity show in aid of Children with Cancer

Hilarity Bites Comedy Club feat. Christian Reilly, Sam Gore, and host Gavin Webster

Show details:

Christian Reilly

Christian Reilly

Christian Reilly is both a Perrier and Chortle award-winning musical comedian with “sex, politics and rock 'n' roll” (The Scotsman) in the key of grrr.

As a former integral part of the Perrier award-winning show Otis Lee Crenshaw and the Black Liars, with comic/songster Rich Hall, Christian's career has taken him around the world three times. On his way, he received accolades at international festivals and numerous network TV credits in the USA, Australia, New Zealand and Britain.

Now a solo stand-up performer, and headlining all the major comedy venues in his own right, Christian uses his dynamic guitar and vocal skills to target histrionic rock bands, musical theatre and morose indie musicians. He wrote and performed for 'That Was Then This Is Now' (BBC Radio 2) as musical counterpart to Richard Herring and Emma Kennedy, as well as giving his improvisation skills an outing on Radio 2's 'Jammin'.

“Blisteringly funny songs” - The Stage

“If you’re a fan of Bill Bailey or Rich Hall, you’re a Christian Reilly fan already” - The Guardian

“The funniest songs I’ve heard in a long time” - The Scotsman

Sam Gore

Sam Gore

A confident and original young act with a brilliant command of language, Sam’s been wowing crowds and rapidly climbing the comedy ladder. Having cemented his position as one of the best new performers on the circuit with no less than five New Act of the Year titles (including the Hilarity Bites title in 2008), he’s gone on to impress everywhere from weekend clubs to music festivals, biker rallies and theatres.

Sam made his solo debut at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2015, winning plaudits from audiences for his show "The Cryptid Crossword", whilst also appearing in the highly regarded AAA Comedy showcase at The Pleasance. In 2010 Sam appeared in the double-header show A Calculated Risk as part of the Free Festival. In 2011 he returned to the Fringe as part of the Amused Moose Laugh-Off showcase, having won his way through to the final of that competition as well. Sam is also a hugely accomplished writer, plying his trade on shows such as Russell Howard's Good News and Chris Addison's Show & Tell.

“The jokes are as cruel as they are funny, i.e. very... a class act indeed” - Chortle

“Superbly crafted gags that showcase a vivid use of imagery and language... great wordplay, refreshing honesty and a wonderfully dark view of life” - Giggle Beats

Replacing Jonathan Mayor:

Gavin Webster

Gavin Webster

2014 Comedian's Comedian of the Year winner

Gavin Webster has been on the rise. He’s been on the rise for over twenty years. After making his modest debut in a pub in Gateshead in February 1993 he's done about three thousand gigs from Aberdeen to Abu Dhabi, Manchester to Melbourne and Hartlepool to Hong Kong.

Gavin Webster's shows are high octane, close to the bone and quick fire, with many gag to the minute routines, peppered with sardonic songs that are finished by the time you decide you need to complain about them. Black humour, observations and moronic jokes complete the unique and stand-alone experience of seeing this greatly original, angry comedian.

Very much the last ever punk rocker, people that take to Gavin Webster are fans for life and stay loyal to him throughout. His unique style has brought him praise and attention from throughout the national media, as well as many roles on TV and radio, including an appearance on Never Mind The Buzzcocks.

“Funny, clever and as brilliantly observed as you’ll find” - The Scotsman

“Palpably funny” - ★★★★★ - Herald

“His daftness is little short of surreal genius” - The Stage

This show will also feature a newer act in the middle.
