Hilarity Bites Comedy Club feat. Steve Shanyaski, Seeta Wrightson, Pete Selwood, and host Mike Newall
Show details:
Steve Shanyaski
Endlessly charming, Steve's inherent warmth and cheeky, roguish twinkle shines through his material. Within the first six months of his comedy career he made it through to the semi-finals of the BBC New Comedian of the Year, the North West Comedian of the Year Final, and later that year was booked to appear on the BBC7 Radio Showcase 'Spanking New'. Since then he has gone from strength to strength, adding TV appearances such as 'Jason Manford's Comedy Rocks' on ITV, and Comedy Central's 'Comedy Store Presents...'.
Combining surreal observations with wildly tangential imaginings, his off kilter set pieces have audiences fully immersed as he leads them, Pied Piperlike, down the charming avenues of his inner mind.
“One of my favourite comedians” - Jason Manford
“Like a mixture between Eddie Izzard and Peter Kay… with a guitar” - Stockport Express
“Uproariously funny” - Chortle
Seeta Wrightson
2025 Female Pilot Club Winner and BBC New Comedy Awards semi-finalist, Seeta Wrightson is a Bradford-born comedian known for her sharp wit and engaging stories. Wrightson’s work often draws on her dual Asian and British heritage.
From humble (AKA very skint) beginnings growing up in Bradford, Seeta has wandered through life wondering where exactly she fits and has had a hell of an adventure figuring it out. And it is a never-ending stream of ridiculousness that provides the fodder for her comedy.
“She has jokes as fierce as her outfits. Love her” - Kiri Pritchard-McLean
Pete Selwood
A hotly tipped up and coming comedian on the circuit, Pete Selwood has quickly risen through the comedy ranks with swagger. After winning the Lawrence Batley New Yorkshire Comedian of the Year (quite a mouthful), he has gone from strength to strength, winning comedy competitions and winning over audiences.
The Barnsley born Yorkshireman is an adept storyteller, focussing on tales of Northern life as a perpetually single man in his 20s. Being born with only one hand also gives him a unique view and experience of the world around him, poking fun at having a fairly minor disability in modern Britain.
In keeping with his material about disability, Selwood is also half of a double-act with Britain's Got Talent star Jack Carroll, performing sketches and creating videos about the portrayal of disability within our society.
“Wowed the crowd” - Liverpool Echo
“man with swagger, isn’t misplaced either” - Notts Comedy Review
“grace and good humour, immensely likeable” - North West End
Mike Newall
A gentle, amiable power-house of a comic, Mike’s timing is the envy of performers with ten times the experience and is living proof that you can’t learn to be funny, some people just are. Since making his debut in 2003, he has toured the country honing his skills and is now a force to be reckoned with.
A talent who audiences, colleagues and industry-types alike are really sitting up and taking notice of, Mike Newall is the future of the Manchester scene, as cheering crowds from Penzance to Inverness will happily testify.
A regular on the festival circuit since 2010, Mike has performed four well-received Edinburgh Fringe shows, as well as supporting Alun Cochrane on several UK tours.
“well-crafted jokes, great call-backs and a wonderfully dry delivery” - Three Weeks
“There’s something strangely elegiac about these modest little insights into his life that make them more than just average observational comedy... Impressive stuff” - Chortle
“Perfectly crafted … Pin sharp, his control is deft and his hair is immaculate” - The Scotsman
