DESCRIPTION:Hilarity Bites Comedy Club feat. Alun Cochrane\, Clayton Jones\, and host Rick Molland\nShow details:\n \nAlun Cochrane\nYou'll know Alun Cochrane from TV\, radio\, and being one of the best stand-ups in the UK. \nAlun Cochrane is a no-nonsense comedian who specialises in funny nonsense. Much of his comedy begins simply as something he’s seen\, heard or felt in his own life\, or in the street\, or the kitchen\, or anywhere\, and from that it blossoms into a highly amusing anecdote or a strange flight of fancy. \nAlun has several television appearances to his name\, most recently Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow\, and Dave's One Night Stand\, but he's also often seen on Have I Got News For You\, 8 Out of 10 Cats\, Mock The Week\, and has appeared on Soccer A.M and Live At The Comedy Store. \nAlun’s dulcet tones can also be heard frequently on BBC Radio 4 on Alun Cochrane’s Fun House\, Just A Minute\, Dilemma and The Now Show\, whilst Alun is also affectionately known as the Cockerel on Absolute Radio's Frank Skinner Show. \n“Cochrane’s dour and grumpy onstage persona is allied to a real craft and creativity in his writing\, yielding results that satisfy both the comedy purists and those who simply want big belly laughs on a night out” - The Guardian \n“A master storyteller\, holding the audience before dropping an exploding but simple punchline...” - Metro \n“Alun Cochrane's ability to make the little things in life a comedy goldmine is phenomenal” - Chortle \n  \n \nClayton Jones\nLast Minute Comedy Comedian of The Year 2017 - winnerEnglish Comedian of the Year 2017 - finalist\nClayton has been performing comedy since 2013 and has established himself as a regular on the UK comedy circuit including shows at the Edinburgh Festival 2015 and Leicester Comedy Festival 2017 alongside appearances at all the top comedy clubs. \nAn observational comedian with an hilarious take on everyday life with very cleverly crafted comedy\, Clayton’s act covers everyday topics of marriage\, kids\, being mixed raced\, school life\, and growing up in London. \nIn 2014 Clayton was a finalist in the Southport Comedian of the Year\, Frog & Bucket World Series and Liverpool Comedian of the Year. He’s a high energy act with a gag heavy set all about his weird and chaotic life. \nAs seen The Stand Up Sketch Show (ITV 2)\, Rosie Jones’s Disability Comedy Extravaganza (Dave)\, Comedians Selling Jokes to Gordon Ramsey (BBC)\, Jokes Only A… Can Tell (Channel 4)\, Hard Sell (Dave). Dan can also be seen in a season 24 episode 90 of Doctors\, ‘Crime Never Pays’. \nTour support for Micky Flanagan\, Fern Brady\, and Jamali Maddix. \n“Raucously entertaining” - The Guardian \n“He’s a real force-of-nature comic who sweeps the room up in his exhilarating performance into a frenzy of laughter” - Chortle \n“Witness a future stand-up star” - British Comedy Guide \n  \n \nAdam Staunton\nA confident and demanding stage presence has seen scouse funnyman Adam Staunton perform alongside some of the biggest names in comedy\, including John Bishop and Sarah Millican \nA sharp wit and a smart eye for the funny\, combined with a confident and demanding stage presence has seen Adam flourish since first taking to the stage. \nHaving performed as part of Big Value Comedy Show during the Edinburgh Festival in 2012 he has gone on to regularly perform at some of the most established clubs in the country. \n“what he lacks in height he certainly makes up for in talent\, getting the biggest laughs of the night” - Three Weeks \n“a thoughtful performer of smiles and warmth with flecks of disdain; he’s quick-thinking\, with effortless confidence” - The Skinny \n  \n \nLiam Pickford\nWell\, what can we say about Liam? If Stewart Lee\, Jack Dee and Morrissey ever had a child together then Liam is who they would call son. Liam started performing stand up in Manchester in June 2012. His unique style is a breath of fresh air to the circuit\, with Liam crafting his own unique brand of stand up\, mixing cleverly honed material and punchlines with excitingly unpredictable audience interaction. All this\, mixed in with a hint of ‘whimsy’ and clever observations whilst delivered in a wonderfully unenthusiastic and grumpy style. \nLiam has performed all over the UK and has appeared at numerous festivals including ‘Latitude’\, ‘2000 Trees’ and ‘Cockrock’. In 2015\, Liam performed his debut solo show ‘Seaside Cock Novelties’ to a sold out audience at the Liverpool Comedy Festival and then Liam returned in 2016 with his new solo show ‘Your Love Is Like A Knackered Bus Stop I Can No Longer Be Arsed To Vandalise’ which he also took to the Nottingham Comedy Festival that same year\, and is available to buy on BandCamp. \n“He’s got funny bones\, and a scattergun mind that doesn’t quite work like anybody else’s” - Chortle \n  \n \nLee Kyle\nIn his never ending quest not to have a proper job\, Lee Kyle spent time as part of an all male Spice Girls tribute act before spending a decade as a professional wrestler. \nManaging the difficult trick of being both odd and relatable\, he did a show at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2013 that he heard was well received but he doesn't read reviews because his psyche is too fragile to handle them so he isn't totally sure what they said. \nArmed with props and a rapid gag rate he cuts a confident\, if off-beat figure on stage. His jokes veer between the clever and the silly and deliver more than their fair share of belly laughs. \n“Had everyone on their feet - Sublimely ridiculous” - The Northern Echo \n“A brilliant performance.. Pure genius!” - NARC Magazine \n“Quirky and original - the highlight of the night” - Giggle Beats \n  \nNote: Line-ups are subject to change in extreme\, and unavoidable\, circumstances.\nShow may contain strong language and adult themes.\n\nTimings\nDoors open: 7:30pm\nShow starts: 8pm \n\nBuy tickets:\nTickets for this show are £12 each. A true\, funny entertainer” - BAFTA winner Dave Johns \n  \n \nJulian Lee\nHaving only started comedy when he entered his 40s\, Julian has had a huge change in direction from his previous life as a performance poet! Highlights include finishing runner-up in Leicester Comedy Festival's UK Pun Championships twice on the trot in 2017 & 2018 - but in 2021 he went one better and won the online show at Leicester Comedy Festival which featured the 2017\, 2018\, 2019 & 2020 champions. Julian has also featured on Radio 4's 'Ross Noble's Newcastle'\, and was invited to be on BBC Newcastle's 'Jesting About' for two successive years\, and was also a writer and performer on their Grin Up North Show. \nJulian also reached the heats of the BBC New Comedy Awards in 2015\, and took his first show\, Jokebox\, to Edinburgh in 2018 - before releasing a joke book of the same name in 2021. \n“Clever word play\, sharp observation\, near the knuckle vignettes\, puns aplenty\, cheeky asides\, confident performance\, easily created rapport\, yet also a sense of a humility” - Fringe Review \n“His clever word play had people howling. He served them up in quick succession and the audience ate them up” - The Shields Gazette \n“Although Lee’s material seems to follow a conventional formula at first glance\, it is quietly diverse\, incorporating razor-wire punchlines\, witty wordplay\, punning brilliance\, groan-worthy Dad jokes\, certified side-splitters\, highbrow oddities\, lowbrow absurdism and anything and everything in between\, all packed into the art of the quick-fire micro-joke... This style of comedy is timeless” - NE Volume \n  \n \nJon Pearson\nJon began standup comedy in 2010\, with his first performance at Birmingham’s Highlight Comedy Club. Cut to the present and Jon has become a regular face on the circuit\, performing at prestigious clubs such as The Glee\, The Boat Show & The Comedy Store\, Jon’s career has even taken him overseas with performances in Spain\, Norway and even as far away as Wigan (it is like being on another planet). \nJon is also a familiar face on at comedy festivals across the UK having taken three solo shows to the Leicester\, Nottingham & Edinburgh festivals with the highlight of the all coming in the form of a sold out show at his home town Melton Theatre in Melton Mowbray. \nJon has also provided tour support for Darren Harriot on his UK 2018/2019 tour and Lucy Porter on her UK 2017 tour. Jon’s laid back storytelling has audiences hanging on his every word. With tales based around his own life experiences\, his anecdotes are relatable and certain to have audiences in hysterics. \n“Very tall and hugely funny” - Lucy Porter \n“Brilliant” - Shropshire Star \n“A natural ability for working an audience” - EdFringeReview.com \n  \nThis show will also feature support from several new acts\, and established acts performing new material. \n  \nNote: Line-ups are subject to change in extreme\, and unavoidable\, circumstances.\nShow may contain strong language and adult themes.\n\nTimings\nDoors open: 7pm\nShow starts: 7:30pm \n\nBuy tickets:\nTickets for this show are £10 per person\, with doors opening at 7pm and the show starting at 7:30pm. DESCRIPTION:Hilarity Bites Comedy Club feat. Noel James\, Sam Serrano\, and host Pete Otway\nShow details:\n \nNoel James\nBritain's Got Talent 2018 semi-finalist\nNoel James has been making people laugh for over 25 years and much of stand-up's royalty has cited him as being a big influence: from Tim Vine and Milton Jones\, to Frank Skinner and Dylan Moran. \nNoel is surreal\, bizarre\, absurd\, intelligent\, and yet\, somehow strangely attractive. He's an accessible act who generally goes down well anywhere; his best lines would grace any comedian's repertoire\, whilst the worst would shame a cracker factory. Highly original and just plain ridiculous. \n“Liberates the lunatic side to our personalities - brilliantly!” - Time Out \n“Stands out like a droll giant in a comedy land of trite dwarfs” - The Independent \n“Huge fan!” - The Sunday Times \n  \n \nSam Serrano\nSam Serrano is a gender fluid\, dyspraxic comedian who has been taking the circuit by storm. A regular in clubs across the UK\, Sam’s unique trademark style is dark and self-deprecating in equal measure and has seen them become a favourite with bookers. \nIt has also seen Sam provide tour support for Brennan Reece and perform an incredible five solo shows at Hot Water Comedy Club\, Nottingham Comedy Festival\, and Leicester Comedy Festival. \nIn a short space of time since starting out\, Sam was awarded second place in the prestigious Great Yorkshire Fringe Comedian of the Year Competition in 2018\, followed by runner-up in the LGBT Comedian of the Year 2019\, and was a finalist in the Leicester Square New Comedian of the Year in the same year. \n“killer lines... a lot going for them\, expect to see more” - Chortle \n“puts the X in X Factor” - York Press \n“Laugh-out-loud funny” - Yorkshire Post \n  \n \nPete Otway\nSince starting to perform in 2010\, Pete Otway has quickly gained momentum\, establishing himself as an extremely strong new act. As comfortable and confident as an MC as he is an act\, he is booked regularly to do both\, and was a recent finalist in the 2012 BBC New Comedy Awards. \nWith an affable and conversational style\, mixed with an energetic stage manner and original writing\, Pete is quickly making a name for himself on the UK circuit\, and is certainly one to watch. \n “Devastatingly funny” - Chortle \n“Amiable\, cheeky classic stand-up” - Liverpool Echo \n“An amazing comedy talent\, and we are making sure we are making sure we follow his every move in his ever rising career” - Crispy Comedy Club \n  \nNote: Line-ups are subject to change in extreme\, and unavoidable\, circumstances.\nShow may contain strong language and adult themes.\n  \n\nBuy tickets:\nTickets for this show can be bought online at www.ruralarts.org\, in person from The Old Courthouse\, or telephone 01845 526536.

DESCRIPTION:Hilarity Bites Comedy Club feat. Alun Cochrane\, Markus Birdman\, and host David Longley\nShow details:\n \nAlun Cochrane\nYou'll know Alun Cochrane from TV\, radio\, and being one of the best stand-ups in the UK. \n“Cochrane’s dour and grumpy onstage persona is allied to a real craft and creativity in his writing\, yielding results that satisfy both the comedy purists and those who simply want big belly laughs on a night out” - The Guardian \n“A master storyteller\, holding the audience before dropping an exploding but simple punchline...” - Metro \n“Alun Cochrane's ability to make the little things in life a comedy goldmine is phenomenal” - Chortle \n  \n \nMarkus Birdman\nMarkus Birdman is one of British comedy's most experienced and well-travelled performers. In demand all over the UK and abroad\, Markus is a veteran of the Edinburgh Fringe with many solo shows to his credit and headliner status at all the top clubs. \nHe's performed at the Melbourne\, Adelaide\, and Perth Comedy Festivals and was nominated by the New Zealand Comedy Guild for Best International Guest. \nHis international gig list would give Michael Palin a run for his money\, with shows in Singapore\, The Netherlands\, Qatar\, Bahrain\, Austria\, Spain\, France\, Norway\, Sweden\, Singapore\, Switzerland\, Finland\, Cyprus and India to name a few. \nNot to be missed\, catch him in the UK before he jets off again. \n“Delightfully comic. Controversial\, personal and wickedly punchy” - The List \n“A consummate comic... energetic\, engaging\, thought-provoking and funny” - The Stage \n“Engagingly mixes the silly and the downright wrong” - Chortle \n  \n \nDavid Longley\nOne of the few comics able to play to any audience without compromising on his material\, David Longley can delight a hen party and the comedy connoisseur on the same night. Intelligent\, silly\, thought-provoking and filthy\, Longley has found himself headlining comedy clubs all over the country and is also in demand as an MC. \nLongley’s towering stage presence and intensity\, combined with his cutting wit have made him one of the most popular and controversial circuit comics in the UK\, whether it’s doling out thought-provoking insights or revelling in toilet humour\, Longley is a gifted wordsmith with great audience interaction skills. \nAs well as being a great addition to any club line up\, David had also written and performed four full length festival solo shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe\, each one greeted with critical acclaim. Additionally\, David has featured as a writer on 8 Out of 10 Cats\, amongst a variety of genres\, and is currently working on sitcom\, drama and documentary script \n“Acid tongued and as sharp as a barrel full of tacks... As intense and intelligent performer as you’re likely to see” - The List \n“Highly original and bloody funny” - Three Weeks \n“David seems to be actually driven by the material and\, say it quietly\, the art... challenges both himself and the audience. AND HE IS FUNNY” - Baby Cow \n  \nThis show will also feature a newer act in the middle. \n  \nNote: Line-ups are subject to change in extreme\, and unavoidable\, circumstances.\nShow may contain strong language and adult themes.\n\nTimings\nDoors open: 7:30pm\nShow starts: 8pm \n\nBuy tickets:\nTickets for this show are £12.50 per person\, and can be bought from the link below\, See Tickets\, TicketMaster\, Skiddle\, or contact the venue directly.
