DESCRIPTION:Hilarity Bites Comedy Club feat. Steve Gribbin\, Karen Bayley\, and host Danny Deegan\nShow details:\n \nSteve Gribbin\nSteve Gribbin is a diminutive guitar-wielding satirist from Liverpool whose scabrous comedy songs and off the wall observations have made him one of the firm favourites of the comedy circuit. \nSteve’s original comedy songs combine razor sharp lyrics with tunes that put their foot in the door of your mind and refuse to leave. Firmly based in rock ‘n’ roll and refusing to pull no punches\, these are not the ‘oh so witty’ ditties of penguin-suited plink plonk piano playing posh gobs. They are that rarity – comedy songs which are actually funny. \nFor nine years Steve was the smaller one in the dynamic comedy duo Skint Video\, stalwart’s of the Edinburgh Festival\, appearing on countless television programmes such as Saturday Live\, radio such as The Mary Whitehouse Experience\, and their own show in 1992/3 Songlines (BBC Radio 1). Skint Video went their different ways in 1993\, since then Steve has been storming across the UK and Ireland as a solo artiste. \n“A comic animated by proper passion... a trenchant treat” - The Guardian \n“You can count the number of truly imaginative comic singers currently on the circuit on the fingers of one hand. One of this select band is Steve Gribbin” - Time Out \n“Satirical songs are hard to pull off successfully\, but if anyone can do it\, Steve Gribbin can. In fact\, he pulls it off with real aplomb” - The Independent \n  \n \nKaren Bayley\nKaren began her comedy career back in 2000 and since then has gone from strength to strength. Her bold\, no nonsense attitude strikes a perfect pitch with men and women alike\, and she is equally at home compering or performing sets. \nKaren is also resident compere of her own clubs in Sutton Coldfield and Solihull\, with her claim to fame to date being that she was the first woman (in its history) to win the King Gong show at The Comedy Store. \nKaren has also worked in TV and radio\, including appearances on the BBC New Comedy Awards (BBC3)\,
The Last Word (ITV1)\,
Sex on the Job (Sky 1)\, and
100 Greatest Cartoons (Channel 4). \n“Laugh out loud jokes and superb audience control” - Chortle \n“Likeable headstrong persona- packing a considerable performing punch” - The List \n“She blew my socks off” - BBC \n  \n \nDanny Deegan\nDanny Deegan is a comedian\, writer and actor who began performing in 2003 and has since risen steadily through the ranks of some of the most prestigious comedy clubs in the UK. His tales of mischief and the characters he creates have kept audiences all over the country enthralled as he weaves in and out of the people he has met travelling. His talent and likability coupled with a confident swagger see him as one of the most popular acts in the North. \nFresh from a successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe\, where he received rave reviews\, Danny also recently performed a headline set at the Green Man festival in South Wales getting a great reception from the 400 people in the marquee and being asked to wrap up for Manchester band Doves after their headline set in front of 12\,000 people. \nOutside of live work Danny has made several TV and radio appearances. From being a guest on Radio GMR to having his own show "Afternoons with Danny Deegan" on CAT FM in Crewe. His TV credits include appearances on "Made in the North" and "The Adam and Shelley Show" to name but two. \n“His seamless interactions with the crowd demonstrate that he’s a natural-born comedian... appealing to both the young and old\, female and male” - Three Weeks \n“Charming\, witty and most importantly funny” - Metro \n“Deegan has a mature confidence in his abilities” - Chortle \n  \nThis show will also feature a newer act in the middle. \n  \n\nBuy tickets:

DESCRIPTION:Hilarity Bites Comedy Club feat. Steve Gribbin\, Michael Holford\, and host Richard Massara\nShow details:\n \nSteve Gribbin\nSteve Gribbin is a diminutive guitar-wielding satirist from Liverpool whose scabrous comedy songs and off the wall observations have made him one of the firm favourites of the comedy circuit. In fact\, he pulls it off with real aplomb” - The Independent \n  \n \nMichael Holford\nMichael bounds onto stage with an enthusiasm that is infectious and immediately welcomes the audience in. \nHis act is a lovely mix of his childhood\, the characters he has met along the way\, and stories of married life that people find extremely relatable. The amount of knowing looks and and nods in the crowd always backs this up. \nThere's a delightful tone to Holford's work that treads very carefully through his family tales that always shows a love and affection towards those he jokes about. There's also a wide range of tales to keep all tastes happy - while his marriage material appeals to the couples in the audience\, he embraces a wide demographic with his gags that leave nobody feeling left out. \nMichael is a storyteller\, but there are still plenty of punchlines throughout his set. Holford has the ability to make crowds of any age roar with laughter\, and sends them away appreciating what good live comedy can do. \n“He absolutely blew us away - great comedy and great entertainment” - Jesterval \n“Just wasn’t expecting that\, loved the passion and loved the delivery... we want him back” - Lindisfarne Festival \n“Smashed it yet again. Great work!” - Punch Drunk Comedy \n  \n \nRichard Massara\nSince becoming a stand up in 2010 Richard has won Real Radio XS New Comedian 2012 and The Frog & Bucket's Preston Comedian of the Year 2012 and is becoming a regular on the UK circuit with his brand of filthy self depreciation. \nAs well as performing for many of the best independent comedy clubs in the country\, Richard is a regular at one off events\, charity gigs\, and festivals. Also an accomplished actor\, you may well have seen Richard on-screen in several films\, or TV programmes such as Emmerdale and Hollyoaks. \n“A very funny guy\, with a wicked line in smut... produced a lot of laughter and earned lots of applause” - BSH Magazine \n“Presence to spare and some wicked material” - One4Review \n  \n\nBuy tickets:

Fleeting from whimsy to dark one-liners\, before stopping for a cup of tea and a breather. It’s a bit like a small child who always asks ‘why?’ His observations are well thought out\, keeping the audience on their toes and intrigued\, eager to see where his journey will take them. \nIn 2014 Tony had an exceptional run at the Edinburgh Festival\, following a sell-out run in 2013 with his critically acclaimed show Football Manager Ruined My Life\, which he then toured throughout Winter 2014\, before taking it back on the road in 2015. \n“Tony Jameson delivered both an imaginatively amusing and well received performance...” - Three Weeks \n“Terrific... DESCRIPTION:Hilarity Bites Comedy Club feat. Duncan Oakley\, Keith Carter\, and host Freddy Quinne\nShow details:\n \nDuncan Oakley\nAward-winning comedy songwriter Duncan Oakley has been performing on the UK club and festival circuit since 1999. In that time Duncan has appeared on BBC3\, Channel 4 and BBC Radio 4 as well as having a lead role as Eddie in Beat 24's feature film Frontman (a film that won awards but sadly never achieved major release despite Oakley being brilliant in it). \nProudly childlike\, musical comedian Duncan Oakley can be playful and daft but is always infectiously funny. \nExpect big laughs from your inner oaf. \n“Leaping between stupidity and pure brilliance” - Yorkshire Evening Post \n“Oakley's routine deftly mixes the tunes with the stand-up” - City Life \n“Brilliant. A true\, funny entertainer” - BAFTA winner Dave Johns \n  \n \nKeith Carter\nKeith Carter is known as one of the best character comedians on the circuit\, so much so that many have not known he was in character. He doesn’t rely on wigs and silly costumes\, Carter relies on sincerity. His most famous creation Nige has gained cult status amongst comedy fans and comedians alike and is seen as a comedy icon in his native Liverpool. \nHis unique ability to improvise and interact with an audience whilst delivering a perfectly honed set of belly-laugh gags and hilariously surreal stories has taken him across the globe\, as well as working with\, amongst others\, Sean Lock\, Reginald D. Hunter\, Ricky Gervais\, and Russell Brand. \nCarter can count Johnny Vegas and Jon Richardson as fans of his work. His contemporaries like him so much that Steve Coogan’s company\, Baby Cow\, paid for his one man show Edinburgh run in 2012 and Craig Cash’s company\, Jelly Legs\, paid to make a half hour teaser pilot to be shown at the BBC of one of Carter’s characters. \n “A character comic of rare skill” - The Guardian \n“Carter is in danger of becoming huge” - Chortle \n“Surely this man will have a sitcom in a few years time” - Metro \n  \n \nFreddy Quinne\nCo-host of the hugely popular 'Dead Men Talking' podcast\, award-winning comedian Freddy Quinne is a regular at many of the biggest and best comedy clubs in the country where he performs his shamelessly opinionated\, no-holds-barred stand up. He is known for his frank approach and often brutal punchlines\, covering everything from topical news to universal truths. \nHis Amazon Prime comedy special Quite The Catch has had over half a million views. He also has hours of online footage from shows across the world\, with clips racking up millions of streams on Facebook and YouTube. \nIn 2014 Freddy was MC for the late show for the Big Value Show at the Edinburgh Fringe\, one of the most prestigious showcases at the festival\, and he returned to the Fringe in 2015\, where he hosted the AAA Comedy Showcase at the Pleasance Courtyard. \nFreddy's willingness to break away from his set and involve the crowd leads for an engaging and memorable set backed up with frantic energy and raw emotion. \n“Uncompromising... a natural comic with near perfect timing” - The Skinny \n“The hilarious Freddy Quinne managed to quieten the two worst hecklers with one perfectly judged line” - eFestivals \n“Uniquely Northern observational humour” - Lancashire Evening Post \n  \nThis show will also feature a newer act in the middle. \n  \n\nBuy tickets:

DESCRIPTION:Hilarity Bites Comedy Club feat. Noel James\, Tom Little\, and host Amy Gledhill\nShow details:\n \nNoel James\nBritain's Got Talent 2018 semi-finalist\nNoel James has been making people laugh for over 25 years and much of stand-up's royalty has cited him as being a big influence: from Tim Vine and Milton Jones\, to Frank Skinner and Dylan Moran. \nNoel is surreal\, bizarre\, absurd\, intelligent\, and yet\, somehow strangely attractive. He's an accessible act who generally goes down well anywhere; his best lines would grace any comedian's repertoire\, whilst the worst would shame a cracker factory. Highly original and just plain ridiculous. \n“Liberates the lunatic side to our personalities - brilliantly!” - Time Out \n“Stands out like a droll giant in a comedy land of trite dwarfs” - The Independent \n“Huge fan!” - The Sunday Times \n  \n \nTom Little\nTom Little is an award-winning comedian. In 2015 he won the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year (an award also won by acts such as Johnny Vegas\, Jason Manford\, Rhod Gilbert and Romesh Ranganathan) which he never stops banging on about. \nTom was also a BBC Radio New Comedy Award finalist and his 2018 Edinburgh show was nominated for the Amused Moose Comedy Award. He plays the well-read fool\, taking on hugely diverse facts\, but refusing to deal with them conventionally\, with a unique turn of phrase. \n“Inventive\, unexpected and often very silly…. He surely can’t remain a hidden treasure for long” - Chortle \n“A huge talent” - The Scotsman \n“His elevation to TV panel show favourite is surely only a matter of time” - The Wee Review \n“The real deal. An instinctive comedian with oodles of charm and a quirky\, frenetic intensity... If he cuts his energy levels by 10% he could end up in movies” - The Spectator \n  \n \nAmy Gledhill\nCaroline Aherne bursary winner 2018\nNative Hullensian Amy Gledhill has collated the kind of awards portfolio that would shame a seasoned pro. \nBrimming with natural warmth and charm\, Gledhill takes the audience with her on a journey through hilarious stories and off-beat observations\, leaving everybody feeling they've just made a new friend. \n

Not just a solid standup\, Gledhill has also been turning her Midas touch to sketch as one half of The Delightful Sausage\, who have just returned from the Edinburgh Fringe after an incredible debut year\, hoovering up stars\, acclaim and more importantly - gin. \n“Silly\, vivacious and very funny” - Richard Herring \n“Deftly balances the daft with the intelligent” - The Skinny \n“Commands the stage. Incredibly accomplished” - Funny Women \n  \nThis show will also feature a newer act in the middle. \n  \n\nBuy tickets:

DESCRIPTION:Hilarity Bites Comedy Club feat. Paul ‘Silky’ White\, Tom Taylor\, and host Sam Avery\nShow details:\n \nPaul 'Silky' White\nSilky has been a full time comedian since 1997. He did his first gig in 1994\, and his fourth gig (the final of the 1995 BBC New Comedy Awards alongside Lee Mack\, Daniel Kitson and Julian Barratt) was shown on BBC1’s Stand-Up Show. Other awards he has failed to win include the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year (prize-winning runner-up 2000)\, the Liverpool Echo Arts and Entertainment Award (the only person to be nominated twice: always the sodding bridesmaid). \nSilky has performed internationally\, including gigs in China\, the Philippines\, the Gulf\, Singapore\, the US\, the Melbourne Comedy Festival\, and all over Europe\, including at the Glastonbury Festival\, where no-one lobbed bottles of wee\, much to his relief. He performed at the 2004 God’s Kitchen Global Gathering\, the 2005 Big Bang at Santa Pod\, and in the houseband for the Kilkenny Festival. Silky is also a regular at the Edinburgh Fringe\, where he plays to full houses every year at The Stand Comedy Club. \n“...a very\, very funny fella... just brilliant” - John Bishop \n“One of the comedy circuit’s most popular headliners... on the cusp of superstardom” - Yorkshire Life \n“Among the best of the circuit... born funny” - City Life \n“Always brilliant” - Metro \n  \n \nTom Taylor\n2015 Yorkshire Comedian of the Year\nMulti-award winning comedian Tom Taylor has received high praise from audiences and critics alike. His unique brand of musical comedy is smart and silly in equal measure and he can boast an impressive stock of quirky\, and very funny\, musical one-liners. \nIn 2013 Tom reached the final of the prestigious So You Think You're Funny? competition\, previously won by Dylan Moran\, Lee Mack and Peter Kay. In 2014\, he reached the final of the Hobgoblin Comedy Award and\, the following year\, won the inaugural Great Yorkshire Fringe New Comedian of the Year competition. \nRecently\, Tom has performed on Radio 2 and Radio 4 Extra as part of the BBC Radio New Comedy Award and has supported Simon Munnery on tour. \n“His brand of nervous\, neurotic musical comedy is an absolute delight” - The Skinny \n  \n \nSam Avery\nSam Avery wanted to be a rock star. It nearly happened. \nDespite being signed up by BMG Records at the age of 17 (he had to resign from his beloved paper round)\, and subsequent tours with Motorhead and Ice T\, the story soon took a familiar turn. Contracts were anulled\, money was stolen and before he knew it he was back at the paper shop asking for his fluorescent bag back. He had crap hair anyway. \nSubsequent jobs (including a brief stint as a stockbroker) failed to excite him the way the smell of sweat and snakebite had and it wasn't long before he turned to stand-up\, soon making the final of the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year competition\, and finishing runner-up in the City Life North-West Comedian of the Year competition. \nFriendly and enthusiastic\, his observational style instantly puts audiences at ease allowing him to regale them with his tales of everyday life. Sam has gained a reputation for being able to spark the dullest of rooms into life with his warm\, infectious humour and quick wit which makes him ideal as either an act or compere. \nSam is also known as The Learner Parent\, the blog that he started which has lead to a best-selling book and sold-out UK tour. \n“Quick wit and painfully funny” - Metro \n“A must” - Sunday Times \n“A gifted storyteller” - The List \n  \nThis show will also feature a newer act in the middle. \n  \n\nBuy tickets:

DESCRIPTION:Hilarity Bites Comedy Club feat. Paul ‘Silky’ White\, Keith Carter\, Amy Gledhill\, and host Dave Twentyman\nShow details:\n \nPaul 'Silky' White\nSilky has been a full time comedian since 1997. \n“...a very\, very funny fella... just brilliant” - John Bishop \n“One of the comedy circuit’s most popular headliners... on the cusp of superstardom” - Yorkshire Life \n“Among the best of the circuit... born funny” - City Life \n“Always brilliant” - Metro \n  \n \nKeith Carter\nKeith Carter is known as one of the best character comedians on the circuit\, so much so that many have not known he was in character. \n “A character comic of rare skill” - The Guardian \n“Carter is in danger of becoming huge” - Chortle \n“Surely this man will have a sitcom in a few years time” - Metro \n  \n \nAmy Gledhill\nCaroline Aherne bursary winner 2018\nNative Hullensian Amy Gledhill has collated the kind of awards portfolio that would shame a seasoned pro.

Incredibly accomplished” - Funny Women \n  \n \nDave Twentyman\nAffable\, quick-witted banter merchant\, Dave Twentyman survived a childhood in St Helens by evolving rapid\, startlingly-bright patter and a smile that he somehow stole from Barry Manilow. This is a man who could teach Teflon a trick-or-two but who remains vastly more fun than your average frying-pan. What higher praise can there be? \nNo matter what your mood\, you really can't help but warm to Dave. He puts a big smile on everyone's face. His chatty\, cheeky style endears him to the toughest of crowds. Dave talks a lot about the subjects closer to home\, such as family life & friends. Its lighthearted\, positive fun\, you can't help relating to. \nA regular performer at many of the best weekend clubs in the country\, Dave has also performed at a number of music festivals over the years such as Leeds\, V Festival\, Download\, etc \n “Thoroughly impressed\, best I've seen in ages. Great warmth and style” - Dave Spikey \n“F**king Brilliant” - John Bishop \n“Really like his stuff” - Jason Manford \n  \n\nBuy tickets:

It’s the kind of manoeuvre that takes serious talent to pull off” - ★★★★ - The Telegraph \n“Ilyas has a slickness more reminiscent of US comics\, and the gags to back it up\, though his most prized asset could yet be his bold\, subversive streak” - ★★★★ - The Guardian \n“Radiantly entertaining” - ★★★★ - The Times \n  \n \nPat Cahill\nFrom winning Chortle Best Newcomer and Hackney Empire New Act Awards in 2012\, Pat has gone on to become a perenially daft presence on the alternative comedy scene in the UK and internationally. \nHis own style of “controlled silliness” (Fest mag) has led him to appearances on Dave's One Night Stand\, Sky Arts\, BBC3\, BBC Radio 1\, BBC Radio 4's The Now Show\, and 4 Extra. \nAs well as two national tour support slots for Ardal O'Hanlon and Nina Conti\, Pat has written and performed 4 critically acclaimed Edinburgh Fringe Festival solo shows\, and appeared internationally in Belgium\, Switzerland\, France\, Ireland\, Denmark\, Norway\, Sweden\, The Netherlands\, and Peterborough. \nNominee Best Show\, Dave's Leicester Comedy Festival 2016 \n“Cahill strikes an unlikely balance between stretched absurdity and sophisticated introspection... Using his own combination of irrepressibly cheeky\, and surprisingly dark material\, he quickly found himself taking the national comedy circuit by storm. \nHis calm\, inclusive persona has ensured that Barry has also proven himself to be a popular and amiable MC\, garnering a reputation as a strong and reliable choice to hold a quality line up together. Barry has been awarded Best MC at the Midlands Comedy Awards in 2015\, 2016 and 2017 \nBarry is one-half of popular podcast 'The Worriers' with Hayley Ellis\, and was also half of the popular Parapod podcast with comedian Ian Boldsworth. The Parapod quickly became a cult hit\, and was nominated for 'Best Internet' award at the 2016 Chortle Awards. \n“If you are a promoter or club owner and aren't booking Barry Dodds then you should hand in your badge and your gun on my desk Monday morning!” - Jason Manford \n“Razor sharp humour” - Metro \n“wonderfully crafted stories and top–class audience interaction... brings his cheekiness to the stage in absolute buckets” - Bunbury Magazine \n  \nThis show will also feature a newer act in the middle. \n  \n\nBuy tickets:\nTickets for this show are only available in person from Bishop Auckland Town Hall\, or telephone 03000 269 524

As pleasant as he is wonderfully brutal\, Matt is a welcome addition to any comedy night entertaining the crowd while skillfully destroying any heckler that crosses his path. \n “Absolutely hilarious... had the crowd rolling around” - BBC \n“Brilliant... always original one of the newest stars of comedy” - The Leeds Guide \n“Brilliantly handled a very difficult room\, this fashionably unkempt lad will go far” - Swansea Telegraph \n  \nThis show will also feature a newer act in the middle. \n  \n\nOver the last 30 years Children with Cancer UK has funded over 200 research projects and helped fund research centres and respite homes across the country. Since 1988\, thanks to your support\, Children With Cancer have raised over £220 million to help the fight against childhood cancer. This show will help raise more vital funds for this very worthwhile charity. \n  \n  \n\nBuy tickets:\nIn order to raise as much money as possible for the charity\, tickets are only available to buy in person from Paul Cook\, or by contacting us via email at info@hilaritybites.co.uk.

DESCRIPTION:Hilarity Bites Comedy Club feat. Gerry K\, Andy Field\, and host Tom Houghton\nShow details:\n \nGerry K\nAnecdotal\, observational and refreshingly honest in style\, Gerry's comedy is enriched by a somewhat unique perspective: Real name Gerry Kyei (pronounced “Chay”)\, Gerry was born in the East End\, but grew up in rural Essex\, as a rare black face in an almost totally white and very parochial area (a million miles away from the traditional Essex stereotype towns like Harlow\, Basildon\, Romford and Southend). In addition to providing some truly original insights into life in rural England\, these early experiences have ensured Gerry's comedy delights an incredible range of audiences\, often confounding expectations. \nStarting in comedy as the result of a dare\, his rise to headline act was a quick one\, scooping a range of accolades along the way including; The Comedy Store’s ‘King Gong’\, Metrolife Comedy Newcomer\, and The Comedy Café’s Best Newcomer Awards. \nNow a regular and in-demand headline act both in the UK and overseas\, Gerry has played all of the nation's leading clubs including The Comedy Store\, Jongleurs\, Komedia.
