Hilarity Bites Comedy Club feat. David Eagle, Anth Young, and host Nicola Mantalios
Show details:

David Eagle
In 2018 David began performing stand up comedy. He was awarded the New Act Of The Year prize at 2018’s Nottingham Comedy Festival. In 2019 he won Bath Comedy Festival’s New Comedian Of The Year and the Leicester Square Theatre New Comedian Of The Year.
In 2022 David performed stand up on BBC Radio 4’s topical comedy programme The Now Show. He frequently supports Boothby Graffoe on tour, and he also starred in Tony Law and Phil Nichol’s improvised 2019 Edinburgh Fringe show.
David is one third of three-time BBC Radio 2 folk Award winning band The Young’uns. You may have heard them performing on BBC Radio 2 and 3, or maybe seen them on BBC’s Springwatch. They’ve also done a couple of documentaries for BBC Radio 4. Or perhaps – and granted, this is unlikely, but maybe – you heard them in the Aardman Animations film Itch of the Golden Nit, in which they played the role of Vic Reeves’ pirate backing band. They perform at venues and festivals in the UK and all over the world, including Cambridge Folk Festival and Glastonbury, where they played on stage with Billy Bragg.
“a comic tour de force” - The Guardian
“David Eagle is a genuine stand up rookie phenomenon! Looking forward to hearing more” - Reginald D. Hunter
“Brilliant, nuts, heartily recommend” - Rufus Hound

Anth Young
Anth Young is one of the hottest new acts in the North East, having finished highly in a raft of new act competitions in the last few years, as well as performing to huge audiences in theatres around the country as tour support to Carl Hutchinson.
A regular at comedy clubs around the UK, Anth's career has really blossomed since finishing as runner-up in the Great Yorkshire Fringe New Comedian of the Year competition in 2017 - a year which also saw him placing highly in the hugely competitive English Comedian of the Year competition, and being a finalist in the North East New Act of the Year competition.
“Delightfully blunt and immensely endearing” - BBC
“...he has long career ahead of him” - Broadway Baby

Nicola Mantalios
Winner of the 2025 Funny Women Stage Awards
Nicola is a Greek-Geordie bisexual comedian who has become a much loved act in and around the North East. After first hitting the professional scene in 2018 she quickly became loved by bookers and audiences, and after a couple of years staying within the North East due to family commitments, now the family can survive without her, she’s ready to get her name known in every city.
Nicola regularly hosts weekends at Newcastle Stand, and runs her own gigs - one being the very successful ‘Queers and Beers” which is the main queer comedy night in Newcastle.
A finalist in the SoYouThinkYou'reFunny competition, Nicola has a background in delivering training and has developed a series of comedy courses, with many up and coming comedians and known comedians alike seek mentorship from her.
Nicola has performed alongside Lucy Beaumont, Fern Brady, Sarah Millican, Dylan Moran, Jonny Vegas, Gary Delaney and has provided tour support for Josie Long and Ellie Taylor.
“Within moments of her being on stage, the audience is in the palm of her hand and they remain there for the duration. I’d 100% recommend Nicola” - Carl Hutchinson
“Everyone who saw Nicola at Lindisfarne in the Punch-Drunk comedy tent had their festival moment. Absolute highlight of the entire weekend for everyone involved” - Kai Humphries
“She had the room spellbound – and in gales of laughter” - Chortle
