DESCRIPTION:Hilarity Bitesize New Act & New Material Night\, with Sam Avery\, Alex Hylton\, host Rick Molland & support\nShow details:\n \nSam Avery\nSam Avery wanted to be a rock star. It nearly happened. \nDespite being signed up by BMG Records at the age of 17 (he had to resign from his beloved paper round)\, and subsequent tours with Motorhead and Ice T\, the story soon took a familiar turn. Contracts were anulled\, money was stolen and before he knew it he was back at the paper shop asking for his fluorescent bag back. He had crap hair anyway. \nSubsequent jobs (including a brief stint as a stockbroker) failed to excite him the way the smell of sweat and snakebite had and it wasn't long before he turned to stand-up\, soon making the final of the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year competition\, and finishing runner-up in the City Life North-West Comedian of the Year competition. \nFriendly and enthusiastic\, his observational style instantly puts audiences at ease allowing him to regale them with his tales of everyday life. Sam has gained a reputation for being able to spark the dullest of rooms into life with his warm\, infectious humour and quick wit which makes him ideal as either an act or compere. \nSam is also known as The Learner Parent\, the blog that he started which has lead to a best-selling book and sold-out UK tour. \n“Quick wit and painfully funny” - Metro \n“A must” - Sunday Times \n“A gifted storyteller” - The List \n  \n \nAlex Hylton\n'Best Show' Leicester Comedy Festival 2020 - Winner\nAlex Hylton is one of the fastest rising comics in the Midlands and a presenter and writer for BlueMoonRisingTv. A youthful\, energetic new act with relatable anecdotes of adolescence\, mixing in one-liners and a smudge of surrealism to create a likable and unique style\, Alex is tipped by many to go all the way. \n“Hylton takes charge of a room\, fluent and funny storytelling is second nature to this comic” - Wee Review \n“Well crafted\, vivid storytelling performed with commitment” - Three Weeks \n“A hilarious abundance of energy” - The Recs \n  \n \nRick Molland\nNot many Englishmen can cut it as an MC in a Scottish Comedy Club - but that's exactly what Rick Molland did every weekend of the year for years. \nAn award winning film maker and former Scottish Comedian of the Year runner-up\, having proven his comedy metal in some of the most formidable environments Scotland has to offer\, including T in the Park\, Rockness\, and The Wickerman Festivals\, Rick Molland is the former resident compère at Edinburgh's Monkey Barrel Comedy Club. \n“no-holds-barred comedy” - Edinburgh Evening News \n“perfect for the role of compere” - Three Weeks \n“ audacious” - The Scotsman \n  \nThis show will also feature support from several new acts\, and established acts performing new material. \n  \nNote: Line-ups are subject to change in extreme\, and unavoidable\, circumstances.\nShow may contain strong language and adult themes.\n\nTimings\nDoors open: 7pm\nShow starts: 7:30pm \n\nBuy tickets:\nTickets for this show are £10 per person\, with doors opening at 7pm and the show starting at 7:30pm. DESCRIPTION:Hilarity Bites Comedy Club feat. Sam Avery\, Stephanie Laing\, and host Andy Fury\nShow details:\n \nSam Avery\nSam Avery wanted to be a rock star. \n“Quick wit and painfully funny” - Metro \n“A must” - Sunday Times \n“A gifted storyteller” - The List \n  \n \nStephanie Laing\nGoofy and peculiar\, Stephanie Laing’s comedy is partway between the needy oddness of Maria Bamford and the upbeat affability of Josie Long. Her material is a mix of silliness\, filth and unusual observations\, underpinned by a disarming honesty which makes her seem charmingly vulnerable. \nA regular on the circuit Stephanie has also become a stalwart of comedy festivals across the country having appeared at Brighton Fringe\, Leicester Comedy Festival\, York Comedy Festival\, Bath Comedy Festival\, Women in Comedy Festival as well as appearing at the Edinburgh Fringe every year since 2010. Not content with just performing in the UK Stephanie has also appeared at UCB in New York & The Laugh Factory in L.A. \nMost recently in 2018 Stephanie took her solo show ‘Mad About The Boy’ to the Melbourne\, Adelaide & Perth comedy festivals. \n“Laing is a jovial\, baby faced performer who comes across as utterly unencumbered\, so it doesn’t especially feel like adult humour when it plainly is... Laing has a Sarah Millican-esque appeal” - Chortle \n“Disgusting and delightful in equal measure. She is definitely one to watch” - Three Weeks \n“Gloriously silly … wonderfully unpretentious” - Broadway Baby \n  \n  \n \nAndy Fury\nDespite starting comedy out of “sheer boredom” just a few years ago\, Andy Fury has impressed a lot of people in a short space of time with a wonderful mix of self-deprecating dark jokes and off the wall surrealism. \nWith a laidback stage presence that sometimes borders horizontal\, he’s as hard-working as he is funny and winning the Hilarity Bites New Act Of The Year 2010 title has put Andy on the path to working at many of the best clubs in the country\, wowing audiences the length and breadth of the UK. \n“An absolute genius of a comedian” - BBC \n“Brilliant... The next Pub Landlord of comedy” - Hexham Courant \n“A very funny man with a big future ahead of him” - Corby Radio \n  \nThis show will also feature a newer act in the middle. \n  \nNote: Line-ups are subject to change in extreme\, and unavoidable\, circumstances.\nShow may contain strong language and adult themes.\n\nTimings\nDoors open: 7:30pm\nShow starts: 8pm \n\nBuy tickets:\nTickets for this show can be bought online at www.bishopaucklandtownhall.org.uk\, in person from Bishop Auckland Town Hall\, or telephone 03000 269 524.
