Top Ten - Dave's Funniest Jokes of the Fringe 2014
Three Jokes in Top 100 - The Mirror's Top 100 Jokes from The Edinburgh Fringe 2014

The award winning Paul F Taylor is a one of the UK’s most original and distinctive stand-up performers. His unique brand of humour fuses quirky offbeat one liners with surreal and observational flights of fancy to fantastical effect. Winner of the NATY New Act Of The Year for 2013, Paul’s persona of a lost bewildered fool sits perfectly alongside his gleefully madcap ideas.

Paul has also achieved notable success as a screen writer and actor. Milk! that he co-wrote and starred in, was the ShortCom Jury Select Winner 2015, and was in the official selection in LOCO, Nashville, LOL, Shortwaves, Glasgow and London Short Film festivals. Battlecock! that he also co-wrote and starred in, made it into the official selection at the BFI London Film Festival 2013.

“Brilliantly funny... a fantastically well-constructed set, Taylor performs sketches and characters alike with a convincing passion” - Three Weeks

“Brilliantly funny nonsense” - The List

“A slightly touched idiot capable of deceptively smart subversions of existence... Taylor evokes vivid visual imagery” - The Scotsman

Nick Cranston

Nick Cranston

Since he first set foot on stage in 2008, Nick Cranston has cemented himself as one of the North East’s finest. After his first gig in Newcastle, he very quickly found himself performing all over the country; impressing audiences from Aberdeen to London and everywhere in between with his sharply written comedy. He has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe and the Leicester Comedy Festival. His debut show, UnSuitable, proved his reputation as a fine act with a bag full of tools.

Whether a quick one liner or amusing musings, Nick has the tales, wit and gags to entertain any crowd.

“Rip-roaringly funny...” - U-Review

Meryl O Rourke

Meryl O'Rourke

Acclaimed stand-up comic and TV writer Meryl O'Rourke revels in her bitterness. She has delighted comedy audiences, written some of the best gags on telly and even hosted pop concerts - the last one to 12,000 people!

She is the first winner of the Betty and Peter / Big Talk writing prize, where she has been gifted a chunk of money to help her write a sitcom with a production company. She was chosen by unanimous decision from over 600 entrants.

Meryl also supported Frankie Boyle during his 2016 tour, following support dates for him in 2014, 2012, 2011 and 2010 at the Hammersmith Apollo. In his book Work!Consume!Die! he calls Meryl "Inspiringly funny".

She is also often heard as reviewer on BBC Radio 4’s Front Row – specialising in comedy and feminism. Meryl has written a pilot sitcom about post-natal depression, for the head of Radio 4 comedy, and is a highly praised gag writer - a stolen joke of hers went viral on Facebook, reaching at least 100,000 likes and 15 million views (at last count!), whilst she's written for many of the biggest comedy programmes in the UK.
