Hilarity Bites Comedy Club feat. Alun Cochrane, Lauren Pattison, and host Pete Selwood
Show details:

Alun Cochrane
You'll know Alun Cochrane from TV, radio, and being one of the best stand-ups in the UK.
Alun Cochrane is a no-nonsense comedian who specialises in funny nonsense. Much of his comedy begins simply as something he’s seen, heard or felt in his own life, or in the street, or the kitchen, or anywhere, and from that it blossoms into a highly amusing anecdote or a strange flight of fancy.
Alun has several television appearances to his name, most recently Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow, and Dave's One Night Stand, but he's also often seen on Have I Got News For You, 8 Out of 10 Cats, Mock The Week, and has appeared on Soccer A.M and Live At The Comedy Store.
Alun’s dulcet tones can also be heard frequently on BBC Radio 4 on Alun Cochrane’s Fun House, Just A Minute, Dilemma and The Now Show, whilst Alun is also affectionately known as the Cockerel on Absolute Radio's Frank Skinner Show.
“Cochrane’s dour and grumpy onstage persona is allied to a real craft and creativity in his writing, yielding results that satisfy both the comedy purists and those who simply want big belly laughs on a night out” - The Guardian
“A master storyteller, holding the audience before dropping an exploding but simple punchline...” - Metro
“Alun Cochrane's ability to make the little things in life a comedy goldmine is phenomenal” - Chortle

Lauren Pattison
Edinburgh Best Newcomer Nominee 2017, Lauren is a comedian, actor and writer. Her TV appearances include two episodes of Comedy Central at the Comedy Store (Comedy Central), Roast Battle (Comedy Central), hosting an episode of Takeshi’s Castle (Comedy Central), The Dog Ate My Homework (CBBC), The Great Christmas Rant (ITV2), The Blame Game (BBC One Northern Ireland) and internationally on New Zealand’s 7 Days (TV3), Australia’s Comedy Up Late (ABC) and Canada’s The Stand Up Show with Katherine Ryan (The Comedy Network Canada). As an actor her credits include Drunk History (Comedy Central), Jerk (BBC3), and Climaxed (BBC3).
She can currently be heard hosting the critically acclaimed weekly podcast Conversations Against Living Miserably, produced by the TV channel Dave in partnership with the Campaign Against Living Miserably. Now in its second series, the podcast has had guests including Richard Gadd, Jenny Eclair, Lou Sanders, Dane Baptiste and Stu Goldsmith. The Guardian described the show as “funny, kind and thought-provoking.”
In 2017, Lauren sold out her debut run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with her critically acclaimed show Lady Muck. On top of her Best Newcomer nomination, Lauren won the prestigious Herald Angel Award and was nominated for Amused Moose Best Comedy Show. The 5-star show was the best-reviewed show at The Pleasance that year and was so popular that she added three extra sold-out shows. The success of the show saw it go on to a six-night sold-out run at London’s Soho Theatre, as well as runs at the Perth and Adelaide Fringe in Australia and the Auckland Comedy Festival in New Zealand.
A sought after act, Lauren is a regular at all the major national comedy clubs and has provided tour support for Katherine Ryan, Jason Manford, Kerry Godliman, Stewart Francis and Dane Baptiste, as well as gracing the comedy stages of Latitude and Reading and Leeds Festivals.
“a star of the future ... Lauren Pattison looks set for fame” - The List
“Even when packing a punch, her demeanour is breezy, frank and friendly, making her wickedly engaging company... a fully equipped comedian” - Chortle
“Fast, forthright and filthy” - The Guardian

Pete Selwood
A hotly tipped up and coming comedian on the circuit, Pete Selwood has quickly risen through the comedy ranks with swagger. After winning the Lawrence Batley New Yorkshire Comedian of the Year (quite a mouthful), he has gone from strength to strength, winning comedy competitions and winning over audiences.
The Barnsley born Yorkshireman is an adept storyteller, focussing on tales of Northern life as a perpetually single man in his 20s. Being born with only one hand also gives him a unique view and experience of the world around him, poking fun at having a fairly minor disability in modern Britain.
In keeping with his material about disability, Selwood is also half of a double-act with Britain's Got Talent star Jack Carroll, performing sketches and creating videos about the portrayal of disability within our society.
“Wowed the crowd” - Liverpool Echo
“man with swagger, isn’t misplaced either” - Notts Comedy Review
“grace and good humour, immensely likeable” - North West End
This show will also feature a newer act in the middle.
Note: Line-ups are subject to change in extreme, and unavoidable, circumstances.
