SUMMARY:Ripon\, October 6th 2026
DESCRIPTION:Hilarity Bites Comedy Club feat. Bethany Black\, Ashley Frieze\, and host Al Stevenson\nShow details:\n \nBethany Black\nBethany Black has been a professional stand-up comedian since 2004. Her debut show 'Beth Becomes Her' detailed the story of her being transgender\, chronicling everything from her coming out through her transition and eventually falling in love. It was nominated for Best Debut at the Leicester Comedy Festival in 2008\, eventually losing out to Sarah Millican. \nOver the course of her career Beth has performed alongside some of the biggest names in comedy\, including Alan Carr\, Sarah Millican\, Tim Minchin and Rhys Darby. \nIn late 2017 / early 2018 Beth filmed the role of Pocahantas for No Offence. Prior to which\, in 2015 she was cast as Helen in Russell T. Davies multi channel shows Cucumber\, Banana\, and Tofu\, where she was the first trans actress to play a leading role. In late 2015\, Beth played 474 in Doctor Who. \n“Her journey to Channel Four\, ‘Doctor Who’ and steadily rising star status makes for hilarious if sometimes incredulous listening” - ✭✭✭✭✭ - Three Weeks \n“Honest\, to the point\, and very\, very funny” - ✭✭✭✭ - Arts Award Voice \n“The anecdotes are pitched perfectly... very funny” - Chortle \n  \n \nAshley Frieze\nWith his charming\, daft\, and warm brand of music-infused stand-up comedy\, this guitar-toting funny man has been entertaining audiences across the UK for nearly 20 years. His original songs\, with well-crafted lyrics and catchy tunes\, span many genres from Jazz to Coldplay\, via 1960's girl-group pop! \nHe regularly appears at comedy clubs around the country\, and has been a resident MC at RipRoar and his own club. His YouTube channel contains original songs\, parodies and other strange goings on. \nAshley has something for most audiences. Intelligent\, geeky\, silly\, and occasionally naughty. He's a sharp\, MC\, and a powerhouse featured act appearing at theatres\, comedy clubs\, many many pub function rooms\, festival stages\, and even a moving bus! His solo Edinburgh Shows\, The Seven Deadly Sings\, and Discograffiti led to the release of his albums on all good streaming platforms (and many bad ones). \n“brilliant quick-fire lyrics” - Three Weeks \n“Certainly knew how to raise the big laughs” - Edinburgh Evening News \n“...affords the show a feeling of quality” - Chortle \n  \n \nAl Stevenson\nAl Stevenson is the quick-witted\, sharp-tongued lad of Newcastle! \nHis charm allows him to tear through audiences with rapid fire\, all whilst getting away with it through a cheeky grin. \nAlthough he is newer on the circuit\, his talents have already seen him rise to the finals of Beat The Frog World Series\, beating hundreds of acts to do so\, and to host and headline prestigious venues such as The Stand Comedy Club in Newcastle. \nHis humour has caught the eye of his fellow comics\, leading to him performing tour support spots for Mark Nelson\, Lauren Pattison\, Matt Reed\, and even international comic Kevin James Thornton! \n“Al Stevenson combines the blunt double-entendres of Julian Clary with the bored\, world-weariness of Jo Brand” - Chortle \n“Blisteringly confident and deliriously lurid crowd work” - NARC \n“Destined to be a stand up comic” - Lost Voice Guy \n  \nThis show will also feature a newer act in the middle. \n  \nNote: Line-ups are subject to change in extreme\, and unavoidable\, circumstances.\nShow may contain strong language and adult themes.\n\nTimings\nDoors open: 7:30pm\nShow starts: 8pm \n\nBuy tickets:\nTickets for this show are £12 per person\, with doors opening at 7:30pm and the show starting at 8pm. Tickets can be bought from the link below\, See Tickets\, TicketMaster\, Skiddle\, or contact the venue directly.
