SUMMARY:Darlington\, March 2nd 2019
DESCRIPTION:Hilarity Bites Comedy Club feat. Gerry K\, Andy Field\, and host Tom Houghton\nShow details:\n \nGerry K\nAnecdotal\, observational and refreshingly honest in style\, Gerry's comedy is enriched by a somewhat unique perspective: Real name Gerry Kyei (pronounced “Chay”)\, Gerry was born in the East End\, but grew up in rural Essex\, as a rare black face in an almost totally white and very parochial area (a million miles away from the traditional Essex stereotype towns like Harlow\, Basildon\, Romford and Southend). In addition to providing some truly original insights into life in rural England\, these early experiences have ensured Gerry's comedy delights an incredible range of audiences\, often confounding expectations. \nStarting in comedy as the result of a dare\, his rise to headline act was a quick one\, scooping a range of accolades along the way including; The Comedy Store’s ‘King Gong’\, Metrolife Comedy Newcomer\, and The Comedy Café’s Best Newcomer Awards. \nNow a regular and in-demand headline act both in the UK and overseas\, Gerry has played all of the nation's leading clubs including The Comedy Store\, Jongleurs\, Komedia. He is also a firm favourite on the corporate circuit and for after-dinner speaking engagements. \nAs an actor he has appeared on The Bill and Angelo’s and recently enjoyed a cameo role on Jimmy Carr's Xmas DVD. As a presenter\, he's hosted the football forum with former England international and I’m A Celebrity bad boy Rodney Marsh and legendary Sky host Jeff Stelling for Zoo Magazine and has also guested on BBC Nottingham's 'The Breakfast Show'. \nWith his energetic and likeable personality\, infectious joie de vivre and a beaming smile that warms up the coldest of nights\, Gerry K is a truly feelgood act. \n“Easily the best act of the night. He read the room brilliantly and his comedy stories were excellent” - BlogPreston.co.uk \n  \n \nAndy Field\nBBC New Comedy Award Finalist 2017\nChortle One To Watch 2017\nWinner of the Chortle Student Comedy Award 2015\, as well as a finalist in the 2014 Leicester Square New Act of the Year\, Andy has made an impact on the comedy scene with his unique style and fresh approach to traditional stand up. \nA regular at festivals such as Latitude\, Bestival\, and Secret Garden Party\, Andy is fast becoming a familiar face at top comedy clubs around the country. He has hosted his own web series 'In The Tub'\, in which he interviewed up-and-coming bands in the bath (of course). He has a Masters in Creative Writing from Brunel. \nAndy has had many several successful Edinburgh Fringe runs\, and returned to Edinburgh in 2017 with a brand new hour of sketch meets stand up\, The Andy Field Experience\, which garnered numerous 4 and 5 star reviews. \n“A great show for an escape to the surreal\, and laughing without always knowing or caring quite why” - The Skinny \n“Stellar puns\, great one liners” - Fest \n“He has a surreal outlook\, a set packed full of proper punchlines and a nerdy glee in sharing it” - Chortle \n  \n \nTom Houghton\nTom Houghton was previously 1/5th of comedy troupe "The Noise Next Door" and is now taking the comedy circuit by storm with his quick wit\, and charming persona. \nRegularly performing up and down the country and abroad - as well as touring the country in his own sell-out solo showss - you may even have caught him on Netflix's "The Circle"\, Channel Four's "First Dates Hotel"\, or at his sell-out debut Edinburgh Fringe show\, which went on tour in early 2018. Tom is also hugely popular on social media\, with millions of views across all platforms. \nStrap in and be prepared to have your funny bones tickled and your levels of decency questioned by one of the hottest acts around. \n“this unexpected tour de force warrants a 21-gun salute” - ★★★★ – The Daily Telegraph \n“Please take my advice. Get a ticket today. Tomorrow may well be too late. A Star is Born” - ★★★★★ – One 4 Review \n“The long awaited male answer to Bridget Jones made flesh” - ★★★★ – The Daily Telegraph \n  \nThis show will also feature a newer act in the middle. \n  \n\nBuy tickets:
