SUMMARY:Durham\, October 24th 2019
DESCRIPTION:Hilarity Bites Comedy Club feat. Matt Stellingwerf\, Simon Lomas\, and host Richard Massara\nShow details:\n \nMatt Stellingwerf\nMatt Stellingwerf has come an impressively long way in a short amount of time. He is the newest rising star on the UK comedy scene\, having dominated the comedy stages of New Zealand for the last five years. \nHighly regarded by his peers\, Matt has won four NZ Comedy Guild Awards\, including Best Newcomer\, the much coveted Billy T Award\, and been nominated for several others. \nA Hamilton-born and Wanganui-raised farmer's son\, Matt trained as a criminologist\, he is also an award-winning bar fly\, a genuinely lovely guy\, and a man full of contradictions. \nHe expertly brings these contradictions to the stage\, with his typical low-key style and confidence\, finding the humour in topics as diverse as love\, mental illness\, sex\, drugs\, and a crazy interview he once conducted with a serial killer on Death Row. \n“Stellingwerf’s comedy is intelligent\, clever and thoroughly researched... all the while being really likeable” - Libel \n“an intellectual ‘Fonze’... extremely laid back and relaxed with the audience\, seamlessly having banter and keeping his cool” - Keeping Up with NZ \n  \n \nSimon Lomas\nWinner - Hilarity Bites New Act of the Year 2017Winner - Nottingham Comedy Festival new Act of the Year 2017Winner - Great Yorkshire Fringe New Comedian of the Year 2016Winner - Nando’s New Comedian of the Year 2016\nDespite only starting stand up in September 2015\, Simon Lomas is already regarded as one of the most refreshing and exciting new acts on the circuit. In August 2017 he performed as part of Just The Tonic's prestigious Big Value Comedy Show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival\, after racking up a host of new act competition titles. \nDefinitely one to watch. \n“...the writing is strong\, efficient and offbeat\, with an enviable hit rate” - Chortle \n“...it was immediately obvious why there is a buzz about him” - Bruce Dessau \n“...sharp and solid joke writing” - The Skinny \n  \n \nRichard Massara\nSince becoming a stand up in 2010 Richard has won Real Radio XS New Comedian 2012 and The Frog & Bucket's Preston Comedian of the Year 2012 and is becoming a regular on the UK circuit with his brand of filthy self depreciation. \nAs well as performing for many of the best independent comedy clubs in the country\, Richard is a regular at one off events\, charity gigs\, and festivals. Also an accomplished actor\, you may well have seen Richard on-screen in several films\, or TV programmes such as Emmerdale and Hollyoaks. \n“A very funny guy\, with a wicked line in smut... produced a lot of laughter and earned lots of applause” - BSH Magazine \n“Presence to spare and some wicked material” - One4Review \n  \nThis show will also feature a newer act in the middle. \n  \nNote: Line-ups are subject to change in extreme\, and unavoidable\, circumstances.\nShow may contain strong language and adult themes.\n\nBuy tickets:
