SUMMARY:Ripon\, March 5th 2019
DESCRIPTION:Hilarity Bites Comedy Club feat. Markus Birdman\, George Egg\, and host Meryl O’Rourke\nShow details:\n \nMarkus Birdman\nMarkus Birdman is one of British comedy's most experienced and well-travelled performers. In demand all over the UK and abroad\, Markus is a veteran of the Edinburgh Fringe with many solo shows to his credit and headliner status at all the top clubs. \nHe's performed at the Melbourne\, Adelaide\, and Perth Comedy Festivals and was nominated by the New Zealand Comedy Guild for Best International Guest. \nHis international gig list would give Michael Palin a run for his money\, with shows in Singapore\, The Netherlands\, Qatar\, Bahrain\, Austria\, Spain\, France\, Norway\, Sweden\, Singapore\, Switzerland\, Finland\, Cyprus and India to name a few. \nNot to be missed\, catch him in the UK before he jets off again. \n“Delightfully comic. Controversial\, personal and wickedly punchy” - The List \n“A consummate comic... energetic\, engaging\, thought-provoking and funny” - The Stage \n“Engagingly mixes the silly and the downright wrong” - Chortle \n  \n \nGeorge Egg\nWildly brandishing the worlds' second largest briefcase containing a battery of ridiculous props\, George bounds onto the stage to perform one of the most original\, interesting\, innovative\, and sweetly whimsical comedy performances you are ever likely to see. A true cross between modern alternative stand-up comedy and old-school music hall variety. \nGeorge Egg has been a professional stand-up comedian for the last two decades. He has an extremely successful solo show with which he has toured in Germany\, Switzerland\, Holland\, Belgium\, Spain\, Austria\, France\, Hong Kong\, New Zealand and even India\, as well as extensively in the United Kingdom both on the stage and on the television. More recently George has been the support act for Lee Mack\, Micky Flanagan\, and Jack Dee. \n “A hugely entertaining variety turn” - The Guardian \n“It is refreshing to encounter a performer who really is unique” - The Telegraph \n“a genius... he is the friendly face of anarchy\, the anarchic face of food and the foodie face of comedy” - Scotland on Sunday \n  \n \nMeryl O'Rourke\nAcclaimed stand-up comic and TV writer Meryl O'Rourke revels in her bitterness. She has delighted comedy audiences\, written some of the best gags on telly and even hosted pop concerts - the last one to 12\,000 people! \nShe is the first winner of the Betty and Peter / Big Talk writing prize\, where she has been gifted a chunk of money to help her write a sitcom with a production company. She was chosen by unanimous decision from over 600 entrants. \nMeryl also supported Frankie Boyle during his 2016 tour\, following support dates for him in 2014\, 2012\, 2011 and 2010 at the Hammersmith Apollo. In his book Work!Consume!Die! he calls Meryl "Inspiringly funny". \nShe is also often heard as reviewer on BBC Radio 4’s Front Row – specialising in comedy and feminism. Meryl has written a pilot sitcom about post-natal depression\, for the head of Radio 4 comedy\, and is a highly praised gag writer - a stolen joke of hers went viral on Facebook\, reaching at least 100\,000 likes and 15 million views (at last count!)\, whilst she's written for many of the biggest comedy programmes in the UK. \n“As near perfect as you can find. Charming delivery keeps the audience in no doubt they've just seen one of this year's fringe highlights” - ★★★★★ – British Comedy Guide \n“Ripe with comedy. A unique perspective: sharp and dark\, and refreshingly unsentimental” - The Observer \n“Truly astonishing show... a must see” - ★★★★★ – The New Current \n  \nThis show will also feature a newer act in the middle. \n  \n\nBuy tickets:
