Hilarity Bites Comedy Club feat. Carl Hutchinson, Steve Gribbin, and host Rob Mulholland
Show details:
Carl Hutchinson
One of the hardest working touring acts in the UK, Carl Hutchinson has recently performed several sell-out tours of the UK, following support dates with Chris Ramsey on his tour of arenas and large theatres.
Carl is a multi-award winning comedian, having won the Beat The Frog World Series and Magners Comedian of the year awards in 2007. He's also a Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year Nominee and So You Think You’re Funny Finalist, was seen on ITV's FHM Comedy Hero and performed at the highly respected Big Value Comedy Showcase in Edinburgh in 2011.
Carl supported former three-time wrestling heavyweight champion and bestselling author Mick Foley on both of his UK Comedy Tours; in 2011 and 2012 respectively. Carl then supported Chris Ramsey on the last leg of his ‘Offermation’ tour in 2012, has performed several sell-out Edinburgh festival runs since his festival debut show in 2012, which was shortlisted in the Amused Moose Awards and received outstanding reviews from all of the major festival press.
“Effortlessly hilarious. He captivates the audience with his perfectly timed suspenseful silences and plain-talking sense-making” - ★★★★ - Three Weeks
“An absolute must... the next big thing!” - The Skinny
“The comedy catalyst to a great night out” - Three Weeks
“Hutchinson’s trump card is the way he interacts with the audience, rolling with every ‘ooh’ and ‘aah’ his material generated, giving a dynamism and spontaneity to his performance” - Chortle
Steve Gribbin
Steve Gribbin is a diminutive guitar-wielding satirist from Liverpool whose scabrous comedy songs and off the wall observations have made him one of the firm favourites of the comedy circuit.
Steve’s original comedy songs combine razor sharp lyrics with tunes that put their foot in the door of your mind and refuse to leave. Firmly based in rock ‘n’ roll and refusing to pull no punches, these are not the ‘oh so witty’ ditties of penguin-suited plink plonk piano playing posh gobs. They are that rarity – comedy songs which are actually funny.
For nine years Steve was the smaller one in the dynamic comedy duo Skint Video, stalwart’s of the Edinburgh Festival, appearing on countless television programmes such as Saturday Live, radio such as The Mary Whitehouse Experience, and their own show in 1992/3 Songlines (BBC Radio 1). Skint Video went their different ways in 1993, since then Steve has been storming across the UK and Ireland as a solo artiste.
“A comic animated by proper passion... a trenchant treat” - The Guardian
“You can count the number of truly imaginative comic singers currently on the circuit on the fingers of one hand. One of this select band is Steve Gribbin” - Time Out
“Satirical songs are hard to pull off successfully, but if anyone can do it, Steve Gribbin can. In fact, he pulls it off with real aplomb” - The Independent
Rob Mulholland
Six foot seven of pure funny, Rob Mulholland is a bombastic, mischievous gag-slinging rascal with a heart full of humour and gob full of shite. An established, bullet-proof comedy pro forged in the fires of the Nothern comedy circuit who now travels the world packing big belly laughs. A regular at all the biggest comedy clubs in the UK; whether going for the kill with his playful filth-mongering and hilarious, furious tirades against minor annoyances or holding a night together with his genial but sharp hosting skills, he can adapt to any kind of crowd and event.
Rob is the co-host of hit podcast “Dead Men Talking”, has written for Mock The Week, and was seen on BBC iPlayer’s "Comedians’ Rap Battles". Rob has also won multiple awards, including being the English Comedian of the Year joint winner, Beat The Frog World Series Winner, Hilarity Bites New Act of the Year Winner, Funhouse Comedy Champion of Champions, and SA Search For A Star Winner. His hit Edinburgh Festival show 'Popular Comedian' can be streamed now on Amazon Prime.
