Hilarity Bites Comedy Club feat. Paul Pirie, John Robertson, and host Danny Deegan

Show details:

Paul Pirie

Paul Pirie

A brilliant natural comedian, Paul Pirie comes packed full of energy and uses every ounce to maximum effect, with superb delivery.

With a set that jumps from bitchy to silly, you’re never more than a line away from a great pun, insight or well crafted punch line, delivered with a ferocity that makes Paul’s humble beginnings on the Scottish circuit seem such a long time ago.

Paul’s career has encompassed TV, film and radio alongside his skills as a stand-up, and he is now one of the biggest Scottish acts on the UK comedy circuit.

He’s a confident and intelligent comedian who makes it his mission to work and entertain his audience. Paul’s material is superbly individual and put simply, and always delivers a refreshing burst of laugh out loud comedy that leaves audiences in raptures.

“a hilarious rubber faced clown” - The Scotsman

“a most impressive physical comedian” - Chortle

“His clowning and quick fire gags will win him fans... his physical mannerisms have a touch of Eric Morecambe” - The Daily Record

John Robertson

John Robertson

John Robertson is a comedian, making money out of that particularly odd art form since 2002. He’s also a TV presenter, columnist, multimedia artist, games designer, crowd-surfer, and recreational sadist.

John first came to public attention in 2003, when he went down to Australian Idol and faked a seizure on national television. In 2012, he created “The Dark Room”, a viral YouTube hit-turned-live show, which now tours the world as a theatre show and corporate entertainment.

John has had sell-out shows in London, Hong Kong, Phnom Penh, Berlin, Singapore, Edinburgh Fringe, Birmingham, Bristol, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and probably Adelaide (he can’t remember).

With 4 million+ YouTube hits, a wife he met because he faked a seizure on season one of Australian Idol (Guy Sebastian got the money, but he got the girl), this man is a whirlwind of insults dressed in a nice suit. Come and see him - he says this with love - you’re an idiot.

“his material is edgy, intelligent and smoothly-delivered… this is astute, amoral stand-up for the morbidly inclined” - ★★★★ - The Age, Melbourne

“A manic and quick-witted revelation... if you only see one Perth-born set this year, make it John Robertson" - The Scotsman

“Brilliant, bemusing and bloodthirsty" - Metro

Danny Deegan

Danny Deegan

Danny Deegan is a comedian, writer and actor who began performing in 2003 and has since risen steadily through the ranks of some of the most prestigious comedy clubs in the UK. His tales of mischief and the characters he creates have kept audiences all over the country enthralled as he weaves in and out of the people he has met travelling. His talent and likability coupled with a confident swagger see him as one of the most popular acts in the North.

Fresh from a successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe, where he received rave reviews, Danny also recently performed a headline set at the Green Man festival in South Wales getting a great reception from the 400 people in the marquee and being asked to wrap up for Manchester band Doves after their headline set in front of 12,000 people.

Outside of live work Danny has made several TV and radio appearances. From being a guest on Radio GMR to having his own show "Afternoons with Danny Deegan" on CAT FM in Crewe. His TV credits include appearances on "Made in the North" and "The Adam and Shelley Show" to name but two.

“His seamless interactions with the crowd demonstrate that he’s a natural-born comedian... appealing to both the young and old, female and male” - Three Weeks

“Charming, witty and most importantly funny” - Metro

“Deegan has a mature confidence in his abilities” - Chortle

This show will also feature a newer act in the middle.
