Hilarity Bites Comedy Club feat. Tez Ilyas, Pat Cahill & Host Barry Dodds
BBC New Talent Hot List 2017
Chortle Best Breakthrough Act Nominee 2017
Tez Ilyas hit the ground running. In his first three years as a stand up, he found himself in no less than eight competition finals including the prestigious BBC New Comedy Award and Leicester Mercury New Comedian of the Year. In 2015, Tez achieved phenomenal success with his debut stand up hour TEZ Talks. A sell out run at the Soho Theatre and his own BBC Radio 4 series based on the show followed, with a second series released in 2018 and a third already commissioned.
In 2016, his highly anticipated follow up show, Made in Britain, went on to sell out every single performance (including extra shows) at the Edinburgh Fringe and gained spectacular critical acclaim, with a smash hit nationwide tour in 2017.
His third show, Teztify, once again delivered a spectacularly powerful, provocative and brilliantly funny hour of topical stand up, delivering to packed out audiences night after night, followed in 2018 by his second sell-out nationwide tour.
Tez is one of the stars of hit sitcom Man Like Mobeen (BBC Three) and has appeared on Live at the Apollo (BBC One), Mock the Week (BBC Two), The Last Leg (C4), Live From the BBC (BBC Two), Live from the Comedy Store (Comedy Central), Kevin Hart’s Live from Montreal (LOL Network), Virtually Famous (E4), The Now Show (BBC Radio 4) and made a brand new quiz show pilot for Vice.
“Tez Ilyas’s political stand-up is candyfloss with a razorblade inside: sweet and familiar at first, then shockingly, painfully sharp. It’s the kind of manoeuvre that takes serious talent to pull off” - ★★★★ - The Telegraph
“Ilyas has a slickness more reminiscent of US comics, and the gags to back it up, though his most prized asset could yet be his bold, subversive streak” - ★★★★ - The Guardian
“Radiantly entertaining” - ★★★★ - The Times
From winning Chortle Best Newcomer and Hackney Empire New Act Awards in 2012, Pat has gone on to become a perenially daft presence on the alternative comedy scene in the UK and internationally.
His own style of “controlled silliness” (Fest mag) has led him to appearances on Dave's One Night Stand, Sky Arts, BBC3, BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 4's The Now Show, and 4 Extra.
As well as two national tour support slots for Ardal O'Hanlon and Nina Conti, Pat has written and performed 4 critically acclaimed Edinburgh Fringe Festival solo shows, and appeared internationally in Belgium, Switzerland, France, Ireland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, The Netherlands, and Peterborough.
Nominee Best Show, Dave's Leicester Comedy Festival 2016
“Cahill strikes an unlikely balance between stretched absurdity and sophisticated introspection... This is one of the strangest and most satisfying hours of the Festival” - ★★★★★ - Fest
“Wonderfully weird” - The Guardian
“True star quality” - Evening Standard
Barry Dodds charms audiences with his unique brand of disarming wit and wry, down-to-earth observational humour.
A self-confessed comedy geek, Barry took to the comedy stage at the tender age of 21 and soon had audiences eating out of the palm of his hand. Using his own combination of irrepressibly cheeky, and surprisingly dark material, he quickly found himself taking the national comedy circuit by storm.
His calm, inclusive persona has ensured that Barry has also proven himself to be a popular and amiable MC, garnering a reputation as a strong and reliable choice to hold a quality line up together. Barry has been awarded Best MC at the Midlands Comedy Awards in 2015, 2016 and 2017
Barry is also one-half of the popular Parapod podcast with comedian Ian Boldsworth. Ian and Barry debate the paranormal, explore hauntings, and delve headfirst into the unknown. The Parapod quickly became a cult hit, and was nominated for 'Best Internet' award at the 2016 Chortle Awards.
“If you are a promoter or club owner and aren't booking Barry Dodds then you should hand in your badge and your gun on my desk Monday morning!” - Jason Manford
“Razor sharp humour” - Metro
“wonderfully crafted stories and top–class audience interaction... brings his cheekiness to the stage in absolute buckets” - Bunbury Magazine
This show will also feature a newer act in the middle.
